I am a new cobra owner, I have had her for about 5 weeks now.

I love this car more than any other car I have driven. My old car was a 1989 Mustang GT Convertible 5.0.

Now I have a 1997 Cobra Convertible. triple black. with 49K on the clock. After I drove her nearly 2K in 4 weeks!! I love this car.

I plan on keeping her in the Best state of tune possible. I am going to use only mobil 1 synthetic 5w30. I am going to use a K&N air and oil filter. change the oil 5K or 3 months. I just orderd FRPP 9mm wires and the correct spark plugs.

Any tips would be awesome. I am sure you will see me around here asking lots of questions. And hopefully someday I will be answering questions.

well welcome... i wouldnt change my oil every 5k miles... thats a little much.. i do mine every 2500 or 3 at the most... i think the k and n oil filter is overrated... just cuz of the brand... just use a fram or a napa gold.

ford says 5k. I pulled the stick and it still looks great after 3k. why do you change it so much? supercharger?

i am very very hard on my car... street racing, etc... i run nitrous but i dont use it that often... i learned that after blowng the motor the first time... but... we have modular motors and changeing the oil is like putting new blood... a couple extra dollars for oil will save u in the future... u will see if u ever have to fix somethign on ur motor that it isnt cheap

how did you blow your motor before? What oil did you use and how often oil changes?

Jiffy lub says 3K or 3 months
Ford manual says 5K

maybe I should do it 4K or 3 months?

after 3 k my oil is clear and pretty clean.. I'll take a picture of the rag tonite..

Thats the oil after 3 thousand miles. The motor didn't loose a drop. I need peoples opinions. Change now? Or go for 4k or 5k?

I change mine every 2500 miles.

However, your mileage may vary. ;)

P.S. We have an event going on in Chicago this weekend. You may want to join some fellow Cobra owners. You don't have to be a member to join them this weekend but I have a sneaky suspicion they will want to talk to you about it.

Check here for events. www.svtcobraclub.com/mainpage.html
