I reserved 15 rooms at the Best Western hotel. The price is $99 and ask for the SCMC block. The phone number to call is 1-800-435-3642. I picked this hotel because it was close to the Alpine village (walking distance). The hotel has a pool and a continental breakfast.

As far as things to do, there is a car & buggy museum in Helen. I have never been there and I have no idea how good or bad the place would be. I’m just throwing out an idea.

There is also the Remember When Theater. Once again, I’ve never been there and have no idea what to expect.

We can also go tubing down the Chattahoochee River. The Cool River Tubing Company is right by the Hotel.

15 cars sounds good. I was getting a little concerned with the lack of responses.

You guys have fun in helen, the town is basically a tourist trap, (IMHO) but the area is beautiful, and there are a lot of great roads for 'enthusiastic driving' go just south of helen and take 19/129 north from turners corner, great banked road with 2 lanes on the uphill side.
THe river tubing should also be fun.

Tim,
I've been there before. Not sure what you mean by tourist trap? Do you mean the cops have it our for you or business owners try to make you spend money at the shops?
I doubt very seriously there will be a lot of time for shopping. We'll be doing a cruise to Jacky Jones Ford and Sunday will be the only shopping day after we go down the river. Either way, it should be fun just running the back roads.:bounce:

Maybe tourist trap was not the right phrase, I meant that the town was constructed for tourists, bad traffic on weekends, not much really there. Great area though, keep it on the road and watch out for the cops, they have gotten pretty bad up there since it is almost like a race track for motorcycles on weekends.
