I need a final count on how many cars will be attending. Please let me know if it is for car show or drag racing also. I am working on the details. What is everyone's thought for just meeting at the host hotel? It would be great if you can email me and let me know so I can give them a count.

I told Amber that I would go, but I am not sure now. I had to make a Decision on where to run my Cobra next year, FFW Renegade or set it up for Real Street in the NMRA. I have decided on the NMRA for at least one season. I may still come up there to watch even though I will not run there next year(FFW). I still plan on coming up for the Dragon Run before I start taking the car apart(haven't told the wife I want to take out the AC and power steering out) LOL

We are having a track weekend in september at Gingerman, MI why don't you go to that and see what you think of our midwest and northern chapters. :D :D :D

Chris,
I think you are missing out on a lot in IL. We have a cruise coming up in October in IL, Gingerman Raceway on September 20-21, 2003 in MI, and we are planning a show in that area for next year. SCMC has grown since you left....
Do you still work at All State? You have a very low number of 00152. We are now in the 900's and our events are starting to spread. Check out the front of the website for event information. We hope you'll come back!;)

Tony,
I joined the club when you first started it up -- I think it was right after you got your 99. No, I don't work at Allstate anymore. Am working for the new life insurance branch of Bank One.
I won't be able to make it to Gingerman because of a wedding. I'll keep my eyes open for the cruise in October.
I may consider joining again. I kinda left on a sour note. Someone flamed me pretty bad over some comments I made about a 5.0 putting Cobra emblems on the fender. The thread basically took a "Cobra Elitist" tone. I didn't think it was that big of a deal since I'm a fan of Mustangs in general. At any rate, thanks for the info:thumbsup:

Chris,
I know it is hard but take the high road and hit the "delete" button when you don't want to argue with someone. We all don't agree on everything but you have to take the good out of the club and run with that. Don't judge an entire organization by one person.
No one in this club thinks they are "elitist" as our events are open to anyone. However, we do ask for an identity and owning a SVT Cobra is our way of showing it. I have owned solely Mustangs for 27 years now and I can appreciate where the car has gone. SCMC is a Cobra club and we follow what SVT stands for:
Exclusivity
Performance
Substance
Value
I think the club tries to hit that very close. There's nothing wrong with wanting an identity. I believe I had this same discussion with some members this week. You have a Roush club, a SVO club, a Saleen Club, so why does everyone want to knock us because we want to be a Cobra club? If that's the case of everyone in one mixed bag then let's all go join the FOA and forget about MCA, SVTOA, NMRA, SAAC, or any of the other clubs as we should be just one big Ford club. Where does it say you have to be a member of just one club? I know our members join several clubs probably including yourself.
Take out of the club what you enjoy and forget about the rest. Life is too short to let flaming people stop you from doing what you want to do. ;)
Maximus67
08-18-2003, 03:50 PM
I appreciate that, Tony. I totally agree with what you said. I like the fact that there are Cobra clubs. I'm part of the Windy City SVTOA, and it's a great group of folks. I'm part of the NMRA, too, since I go to several of their events and enjoy the drag racing so much. I'm all for establishing an identity. I love my car. One of these days, I hope to buy a 93 Cobra ... in my opinion, that was THE car. I'm just not the type of guy who frowns on anything less than a Cobra. That's not saying that SCMC does ... to your point, there are always a couple of flamers who have nothing else better to do.
At any rate, appreciate the kind words. I'm going to do some cruising around on the site and perhaps send in my dues :D
