Great videos Tim. I'm no expert but you had a lot on early turn ins. The climing esses are all late apex turns. You were laying the smack down buddy. 2:17 is an awesome time. Thanks for the vids!!

Hey Tim. Cool videos. That Vette sounds sweet, dude!

Not knocking here... just trying to help. If you turn in earlier for Left Hook (Turn 4), and come out just left of track center, the car will be better setup for both 5 and 5A. And, make sure you barely clip the curbing on 5A (leads into "the Snake") about 3/4 of the way through the curbing. These two things alone will pick you up another second (minimum) at VIR. Left Hook is a crucial corner...

Bryan,

Think I met you at cmp.

Thanks for the info, I want to learn all I can. I know I had a real late turn in behind the 911. THe tape was from the first day, I did a best of a high 2:19 that day. Second day was better with 2:17.5 . People kept telling me to turn in late there, so I know I messed it up alot. THat is the hardest part of the track to me, that series of turns. Great track my favorite so far.

thanks alot

Tim

Brian, John, in the next couple of days I will post another vid if you could give me some pointers I would appreciate it. I will post one with some open driving, these slow cars in front of me cause me to mess up, especially that 911 lifting and hitting brakes in the esses. I like to get input from people who know what they are talking about.

BTW, I was planning on running only sat and sun, but viper days also had the north course fri. Well I got to greensboro about 11 on fri, and decided I could make a 1/2 day. Put the hammer down on the truck, got there at 1 pm, asked if I could run, got the truck unloaded and ran 15 minutes of the 1- 1:30 session. Man talk about running some bad lines, the north course was fun too, i like the uphill cut thru. Really the only fun part you miss on the north course are the climbing esses. Do you AI guys ever run the full course? If so what kind of times are you running? The viper comp coupe race winner ran a 1:57.

The 911 was driving with his head up his butt. You did a great job NOT running into him. I'm glad to see that you back the zoom up a little more on the camera, looks good.

I can only pass on the pointers Bryan gives me. There is a reason he runs up front in AI.

Running those Ecsta MX's eh??? How are you liking them so far. Mine are getting much better with some miles on them. They hook like glue now. Sorry I've been outta the loop for a while. Funds are low, so I'm working hard on getting them back up with the business. Damn economy is killing us. Hopefully it'll all look up for everyone soon.

Hi Craig, sorry to hear the economy is biting you! We are all in the same boat. My company which does industrial automation is also slow. We are just riding it out, since it will get better unless the economy just collapses, and I don't think that is going to happen. THe stock market is picking up a bit, and if things smooth out a bit in Iraq I think things will gradually get better.

As far as the MX's great tire! They were brand new when I put them on to run at vir. At first it felt pretty loose, but after a couple of sessions they were good. Very noisy tire when you slide them compared to the stock tires on the vette. Lets go very gradually at the limit, unlike race tires. THis was my first track event on street tires and it was fun! I enjoyed sliding the car around a bit.

I have to take a break on the track events as well. I have spent many thousands of $$ this year. Since I saw you at cmp I have done 2 roeblings, 3 road atlanta, 2 sebring, and the 3 days at vir as well as some local stuff. Gone through many sets of brake pads, rotors, two sets of race tires, now on my third set of race tires. Add up entry fees, gas to tow, hotel costs, etc. etc. serious $$$ but you have to spend you money on something, and we don't have kids!

I am trying to get into instructing, so I can save some cash and help some folks at. Looking at the best way to do it.

have a great weekend,

Tim

Good lord you've been busy. I got a 4 point cage put in the car, courtesy of Tom Lewis at Banana Motorsports. I did it mainly to use harnesses to keep my big butt strapped in tight. Now I just have to get the money saved up for the harnesses and coil over kit for the car and I'll be ready to roll. I'm sick to death of the body roll on the car now even with aftermarket springs and the stock shocks. Everything is so costly, but once I get it the way I want it, I shouldn't have to touch it. I'm with you on becoming an instructor...which is my plan also. I don't ever plan on running with the AI guys, but I do eventually plan on getting pretty involved in the driving schools.

Keep up the good driving. I'll see everyone in early 2004 once we get busy at work again.

Have a great weekend.

Craig
