i HAVE A 03 GT AND THINKING ABOUT CHANGING THE WHEELS ON IT. I WOULD LIKE TO STAY WITH THE 17's INSTEAD OF 18'S. NOT REALLY INTERESTED IN THE 95 "R" MODEL WHEELS. ANY IDEAS???

Right now it has the Silver BULLITT wheels on it. And of course the color of the Mustang is"REDFIRE." Thought about the polished BULLITT wheels.

What is the width on the FR500 wheels? I want something a little wider than the 8 in. in the rear. Something to fill the fenderwell up.

It may be difficult to find alternate wheels in a size 17 that have a fitment for the mustang. I had searched extensively for wheels in the 17 inch arena but my criteria was to find a wide width wheel for the rear that had a deep dish appearence instead of the FWD look. There is a set of the cobra R wheels in size 17 inch that has a 10.5 inch rear but I was not interested in wheels that everybody else had. I decided on a set of BBS RK Plasma 10x18 rear and 9,5x18 front. Yes they are 18 inch. The trick it to find wheels with the proper offset and stud dimensions. You could do a seach in tirerack or other wheel distributors on line. Some of the sites will use a picture or graphic to let you see what the car will look like with the selected wheel installed (it will give you a rough idea only). Once you have selected a wheel, then you have to select the tires. One thought on this, if you use a site like tirerack that has a wheel of similar dimensions you desire, you can also determine what tires will fit that wheel size. good luck in your seaching.

I really like the Chrome 2000 Cobra R's. In my opinion they are some of the purtiest wheels Ford has made. :fordflag:

I agree! On 94-98's the 95 Cobra R's look awesome, but on the 99+ the 2000 R's look best.

In my opinion, the Cobra R wheel is a nice choice in chrome. In that style they do offer a 10 inch wide rear wheel. In my wheel selection, I was not interested in maintaining that FWD look. 10 inch width will fill in the rear fender well nicely (which is what I have in the rear) You could easily go up to a 12 inch width in the rear and possibly a 13 inch as long as the wheel has the same offset measured from the inner lip of the rim to the hub. As for the front end, the offset becomes critical in providing clearance for the front calipers. I went after wheels that had a sort of deep dish appearance for the rear and had a matching style for the front. 9 inch is probably the widest you could mount on the front. My wheels in the front are 8.5 inch. To keep the cost of the rubber down (a tad) I chose the BBS RK plasma wheels 10x18r 8.5x18 front. The rear measures about 11.5 inches with 275/35/18's mounted on them. I could easily get a wider tire to fit, perhaps 315/35/18 but they will be a little pricey and harder to find in the brand I like. What is nice, the style of wheel I got has a resemblance to one of the wheel options on the FORD GT. The design is similar to the FR500 wheel but, since ford went to a solid cast instead of the three piece design that was on the FR500 I lost interest since they decided to only make wheels that fit the front and not compliment the rear (in regards to filling out the fenderwell). Sure, solid cast wheels are easier to maintain and to produce, but at least offer a wider width for the rear!

There is still a bit of an overhang on the rear fender (close to 2 inches) but the wheels do not appear to sink in like the stock wheels did.
