View Full Version : Anyone With Issues With Steeda

Has anyone had issues with Steeda?

First, I bought a strut tower brace for my '03 Cobra. It only connects from the strut towers (no connection to the firewall like other manufacturers). Also, you have to drill into the body (on previous braces for other cars that I have had, you just attached using the same bolts for your struts, no drilling). I decided to return it and they freakening charged me a 20% restocking fee. I have never had this happen with anything I have ever bought. I guess this is another way for them to screw you.

Second, I have had springs for my '03 Cobra on back order for 2 months and I get the same response every time, they will be here next week. So I cancelled. Also, I just found out that their springs are just Eibach springs painted blue (with an extra charge for their name).

All I have ever heard is stay away from Steeda products because they were cheap and over priced. I guess I learned the hard way.

I won't be ordering from them anymore.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I have Steeda IRS bushings, a Steeda shifter, and a Steeda underdrive pulleys. None of them have given me problems and the quality and fit are great.

Personally, I would think that of all the people Steeda serves that their record must be pretty good for customer satisfaction. If it wasn't then they would not be in business for very long. Today's consumer is very demanding, such as yourself, so they have to provide to a more educated consumer.

Don't knock a vendor on everything. If something doesn't work for you then say so or call them and give them your opinion and maybe they will listen with more intent if you present it in the right way. I'm sure any repuatble vendor will isten to what its patrons are saying.

The restocking fee is nothing new. Most vendors will waive the fee if you have bought stuff from them before or if you exchange it for something else. Again, a good relationship can go a long way.

I'm not sure about the Eibach springs but I would be 100% positive before I claimed that is what they were on a public bulletin board.

Sorry you had problems with them. :(

The only contact I had with Steeda was excellent. I called them for questions about a clutch that i needed "NEXT DAY delivery". I told them what I had, and asked what was recommended. They gave me every last detail from everything flywheel, pilot bearing to throwout bearing. They told me which pressure plate, clutch disk and everything I would need, and what to expect as far as streetability went. I told them I was ready to order NOW for tomarrow (saturday) delivery. They said right off the bat that it wouldn't make it there because it was so late in the day. But they made a call to Brother's Performance (other side of the country) for me and set me up with what I needed. Steeda lost me as a customer that day, but they gained a ton of respect from me, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. (2 weeks later, I ordered a set of 42lb injectors from there and recieved them 2 days later without a hitch. Great company in my opinion. Sorry to hear that you got treated that way.

I personally am very pleased with steedas products there service could be a little better but i received 415 hrsp and 388 rwtq just from having steeda cat-back, steeda x/cats, and cold air that is some performance gains in my book considering that i had 370 rwhp stock

Both have supplied me with good products and excellent customer service. But, I also understand that sometimes delivery of other manufacturers products is not in the control of the vendor I purchase them from. Maybe the issue is on the other end....

well I have to add to this one .....

we had trouble with some of their parts ...

but the worse of it was when I reported it they treated me horribly... and told me I was imagining things and
"didn't know how to drive"....

I don't know, maybe the guy who treated me is long gone now ... and that would be good. Its been awhile -- so I cannot tell you for sure how things are NOW....

The springs were either "defective" or they were the right spring # placed on the wrong springs for a Cobra.

It did damage to my Cobra ..
my car was a disaster and I literally cried....
Kenny Brown and staff helped me make it like a $50K BMW !!

Suggestion for you?

call Kenny Brown and talk to Rich ---
tell him Tim and Bonny sent you.... you do not have to go with them ---
just - please
get some advice from a professional![/B]

My only dealings with Steeda was for their CAI. The gentleman I placed the order with was friendly, the order was shipped promptly, the install was easy, and that was that. I'd order from them again. Hmmm, maybe their Tri-Ax shifter????

before you do so...

please check out the Pro 5.0 ---

we had a discussion going on about that awhile back.

Tim and I had the Steeda Triax --- on three Cobra's --- we have switched to the Pro 5.0 and we are getting better results!!

we know of several others that are doing the same...

THe Triax shifter was good --- we just feel by our "experiment" that the Pro 5.0 has proven itself to be better for "us".....

try both on someone elses car -- someone with a "newer" Pro 5.0 -- not the older one... say -- under 1 year old.....

anyway --- that will help you make the decision for yourself.

Hey thanks for the input winddysvt, this is why these clubs and forums are so great. There is actually a poll going on over at the svtperformance forum, and at last check the results were 50/50 between the Tri-Ax and the Pro 5.0. Decisions, decisions! :)

Hey Brian, I might just have to do that. I've been curious as to what the difference is in the feel. Hmmmm, maybe another road trip down to your place some Saturday.
Thanks!

By the way, I still haven't gotten over the excitement from the Brainerd event. I see that Gingermen (sp?) is having an event in late September. Is this one that you might attend, or would suggest attending?

Are you going to Casey's wedding? I am planning on bringing the 03 there, so if you want you can check it out then.

Yea, our Gingerman event would be a great one for you to run. That track is very safe, but also very challenging. You will learn a ton there, and meet alot of great people. :)
