Outside of just cooking a pig that day... I starting thinking what would make it easier on us. Carolina BBQ, of Garner NC, is the host location for one of our local clubs (Carolina Stangs). They catered the True Blue Grand Opening a couple years back. David Bachelor, the owner of Carolina BBQ, is an avid stanger and has an '03 Cobra and a '99 Cobra for sale. If you guys like, I can call and get an estimate/price for them to cater the event. Let me know if you want me to make that call!

Go for it, Brad. Catered BBQ sounds great.....we just need enough people to make it reasonably priced.

I'm OK with that.....

Meet at Adventure Landing at 1PM, October 11. Do stuff until late afternoon.......one of the group ticket options was three hours of all you want for a fixed price.

Late afternoon, cruise somewhere and eat BBQ.

Again, I'll be glad to offer my place in NW Raleigh where we could have the caterer do the pig-pickin.

I'll work up a flier to post. Then we can send the notice out to the mailing list Tony formed.

October 11, 2003 1:00 PM until you go back home.

Meet at Adventure Landing in Raleigh at 1:00 PM. Assemble as a group, get tickets, experience go-carts, laser-tag, video game arcade, miniature golf, batting cage, etc.

http://www.adventurelanding.com/park.cfm?ID=4

In late afternoon, cruise to Dave Stanfield’s house to eat a scrumptious meal served by Carolina BBQ. We can then gather round the pool & hot tub (bring bathing suits if you want to do those, NOT optional), talk about our kill stories, look at the Cobras and get to know each other better. Bring a folding chair. Then, watch the UAW-GM Nascar race at 7 PM, for those who want to stay.

Directions to Adventure Landing in Raleigh: From I-40, take I-440 around the north side of Raleigh. Exit at Capital Blvd, going North. Adventure Landing is a couple of miles ahead, on the left.

Directions to Dave’s place at 9412 Carlswood Ct., Raleigh.

From outside Raleigh, from I-40 near the airport on the west side of town, take I-540 north to the Leesville Rd. exit, approx 8 miles. Turn right onto Leesville Rd, then at the next light, turn left onto Strickland Rd. Pass thru the next intersection (stoplight) and Carlswood Ct. is the second street on the right. Our house is second on left. Park in the grass on my side of the street and in the driveway. Room for about 30 cars.

From Adventure Landing: North on Capital Blvd to I-540 west. Take Leesville Rd. exit, turn left, follow above directions from that point,.

Costs: Adventure Landing, 3-hour unlimited activity ticket is around $17. Carolina BBQ meal is $8.

E-mail Dave Stanfield if you’re coming, we need to tell the BBQ people how many to expect. – dstanfield@nc.rr.com.

Brad's going to look at the final list tonight to tell Carolina BBQ how much food to bring, so let us know by tonight if you're coming and are not on the list just before this post.

Brad, looks like we can count on 17 people. May have a couple more.

OK, I'm gonna call Carolina BBQ today and order enough food for 20 people. I don't think that is near enough to do the "pig-pickin" so I'll order BBQ and chicken w/ all the sides. I'll talk to Carolina BBQ about having the food dropped off or whether it needs to be picked up.

GeoSnake

It's all set up w/ Carolina BBQ. Since we have a smaller #, they are going to bring "family style" BBQ and chicken!

Good work, Brad. We're still a go for the plan, rain has stopped, hope it won't come back. If it does rain, I've got room inside and there are lots of TV events going on. We'lll have a ball, no matter what the weather.

We had a fabulous time. The rain held off all afternoon, we had several go-kart rides, did the golf courses and played a session of laser tag. Then went back to my place for a great meal from Carolina BBQ, had enouogh food left to send some home with almost everyone. Watched the Charlotte race and folks went home.

Had a decent turnout considering the threatening weather. Met some fine newcomers to the club.

Many thanks to Brad Worley for setting up the great food arrangements with David Bachelor from Carolina BBQ. Thanks to Jeff Finkelstein for driving all way from Charlotte, David and Tracy Ridgeway from Randleman, Al Fair and his nephew from Eden, Scott Shipley and Steve Carlson from Chapel Hill, Marc Ter Horst from ?, Burke Dawson from Fuquay-Varina. Paul Hamilton did the Adventure Landing thing with us, then had to go.

We'll do this again sometime.

PS. I even bought my daughter a car via Ebay during the race. She turns 16 on the 24th.

Now I can say 'I'm expreienced'- what a cool sound to hear a bunch of Cobras take off at a stop light! I'm still trying to convince my wife that my car was quiet compared to y'alls. Thanks David for having us at your house.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to take Scott's place at the Dragon Run on Friday. I'll mark my calender for next year.
Here's looking forward to another event!:bounce:
