What's Up All:

Got a 96 Cobra, all stock, with transmission out right now and in the shop. Seems I broke 3-4 shift fork and something about the pin on 1-2. Was told an aftermarket shifter would go a long way to stop bending and breaking forks, so I'm putting one in as soon as possible. I'm sure they are all pretty good, any better than others?

Also, Since the exhaust is off I was also thinking about throwing on some flowmasters and maybe messing with the cats. I have heard about the O2 sensors causing the motor to run in safe mode (maybe you know what I mean) or causing the check engine light to come on. My question is: What can I do to the exhaust with the no money I have left that wont cause my engine to run bad? I should be getting the transmission back next Thursday (Oct. 2, 2003). Thanks.

Maybe someone needs this. I found a pdf on rebuilding a T45 (after I brought it to the shop). http://pomoforacing.com/tech/PreliminaryT45rebuild.pdf

Only the front O2's can make your engine run is "safe mode", the rear O2s will only make the check engine light come on. This will do nothing but annoy you and at the worst not let you see the check engine light come on because of something else since it will already be on from the lack of cats. Removing the cats does NOT affect the front O2s.

You can buy MIL eliminators to plug in between your rear O2s to keep the check engine light from coming on. $60 or so (I think) should do it.

I like the Steeda Tri-ax shifter, very nice feel.

Thanks a lot. That was exactly the information I was looking for.
