I just found this place, and I thought it would be a good idea to register, as I just picked up my '03 Cobra today.

I can't say I'll miss the '95 Z28 that I traded in for the Cobra, especially since GM was such a pain about warranty issues and service. I had an'86 5.0 LX before the Z, and I'm happy to be back in a 'stang.

So far I only have a few dislikes about the Cobra, but nothing major. I find that the shifter is just too far away, and like any car with power seats, I can't seem to get the seat to sit low enough. I plan to replace the shifter, but I think I'll just have to get used to the seats.

Oh, and the best part about the Cobra - the ricers with the farty exhaust leave me alone :D

Welcome back to the right side of the fence! ya i know what you mean about the shifter, but with an aftermarket one it will be a lot better. the steeda handle is nice, cocks back to the driver well. i run a steeda shifter with pro 5.0 handle, i like that too. GM does know where to put their shifters though, my step dad has a vette, its in the perfect spot. man they leave you alone huh? they hear my cam lopein and they still want a piece, when will they learn? lol. You should join the club next!

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I already ordered a Pro 5.0 shifter. Anyone know how to defeat the annoying upshift light?

As far as the shifter location, I think that's a product of how far forward the engine sits in the engine bay. The Z's and Vettes have the engine shoved way back behind the front wheels, and since the shifter is literally bolted to the trans, engine placement like that affects where the shifter turns up.

I put 200 miles on it today. If only the rain would stop, it would be a blast! Anyone know how to find the vehicle # that you guys are posting?

Hmmm, ok, is it out of 8394 produced total, or 8394 produced just in 2003?

Hey cydewaze,

Welcome to the board. What part of Maryland are prowling? On the rare nice day, I am wondering around LaPata.

I finshed putting the Hurst shifter in and took it down the road about a mile just to shift all gears before I buckled it all up. It''s a great feeling when it all works. Now I put all the stock boots even that bottom one with the four bolt metal plate back on. it seemed to all fit . Should I have done that? The instructions don't finish the job for you. I assumed that botton plate was to help in stopping the noise. Man it does feel better and more direct on the shifting.:bounce:

It's out of the total coupe or convertible production for that year. I'm not sure if you have a coupe but if you do then you are number 7009 out of 8394 coupes or number 7009 out of 8394 convertibles of that year. There was about 15K Cobras produced for the 2003 model year. But that encompassed two years of Cobras in one.

Hi Charlie. I'm in upper Montgomery County, kinda halfway between Frederick and Baltimore, but closer to Frederick. I think between you and me we got most of MD covered.
