ya, i heard the cobra was to become a little more distintive from the mustang in the future, i dont know if 2005 is the time to come up with a new cobra, along with the new stang...

I agree fully ... it's time for the Cobra to be more distinctive than the "Pony." I love the clean lines of the Cobra, and don't want them to go away, but it should stand out from the "Pony" a little more.

Here in San Antonio, there are thousands (atleast hundreds) of late model Mustangs running around - guess what - they are almost always "6-bangers!" You can buy them all day long for 12, 13, or $14,000. There are a few Cobras running around, but not all that many.

However,
blueovalnews is reporting that they may try to sqeeze out a 2005 "Shelby" cobra. They may decide to drop SVT permenantly from the cobra name, now that they have the Shelby name back, and I think they are running out of time to use Shelby the man as a promotional tool.

That would be interesting ... yeah, he must be getting up in years- one foot in the grave and the other on a banana (sp) peel.

That's some cool photo in your sig. Nice.

He is 80. I meet him at a Shelby event. He was giving the guys with the trailer queen Shelby cars alot of grief. He said he built them to drive fast.

I agree with Brian. I am sure the wait will be worth it.

Maybe the new Shelby will be a road race version (like a R)? I'd recommend a GT350 for road racers and a GT500 for the drag racers? I guess the 4.6 3V will go in the GT.

From what I've seen, I am sure I'll get a 05/06 Cobra (Shelby).

It will be very interesting to see what Shelby puts together with Ford. From all I've read on the web, there's no doubt in my mind that SVT will continue. The SVT guys have said that "there will always be a Cobra". One of the most recent articles said that SVT is going to produce more high end stuff, hence dropping the Focus. The Lightning and Cobra will continue and they're looking to add an SVT version of a Merc to the SVT lineup.

The news about an upcoming Focus ST and and other performance models and lots of Ford performance parts is great!

Somehow I think that the Shelby cobra will be the only offering from ford with a pricetag out of everybody's reach. I am curious if they could really stuff the modular v-10 into a mustang chassis. I did see the shelby cobra concept on TV but I do not want a second mortgage just to get one. I do like the GT-40 rebirth but even that vehicle is pricey too. Will they still produce vehicles under $40k that provide the same bang for buck? or do I need to become some corporate executive if I want one of those things?

With news like that, it sort of says hold on to the SVT you have, it may be worth some money later on in the future (only if cars still run on gasoline).

They definitely can stuff a mod v-10 into a mustang, its been done. i think it made something like 400 hp N/A? i dont know, i will have to dig up the issue of 5.0 Mustang. SVT will put out a cobra in 2006 i bet, the same year the Z06 is due.
