Hi. my name is Russ and this is my first post on this site.

Went to a local Ford dealer today here in Los Angeles looking at a silver 04 SVT. I was originally looking for a Z28 a while ago but wasn't too crazy with the racey look of the Camaro and the "boy racer" image that comes with it. I was also considering a C5 Corvette. The SVT is more of what I'm looking for, compact and somewhat "low key" which will blend in better with the 'herd" so not to attract as much attention from the police. I do not care too much for the new 05 Mustang's "retro" look and the interior is way too funky for me so it will be an 04 or nothing. I'm a Mechanical Engineer and tend to look at the technical aspects of a car rather then it's cosmetics or image they project. I could not find anything on this car that I did not like. To me the layout is almost "perfect". I imagine the the build quality is not quite as good as a Japanese car but I don't think you will find a new car on the planet loaded with this many performance features. I'm stoked!

If anyone knows where I can get the best deal on a Silver 04 in the So. Cal please let me know.

I have some questions for you guys but I'll save that for later.

This is a great site. Thanks guys

Russ

Russ,

Welcome to the board and we're glad you like the site. We have several members in the Southern CA area that may be able to help you out on your journey for a new Snake. However, if you are interested in a new Mystichrome I can help you there with a great deal as long as you pay the shipping.

Hope you get your new Cobra and go have some fun with it!

The Mystichrome would be my second choice of colors. It's a great looking color but I'm concerned with is if I have a fender bender what the logistics are getting it repaired. Can that color be easily sprayed let's say on the quarter panel only and be made to match the rest of the car ? or whould you need to repaint the whole car. Getting that reflective hue to match may be somewhat tricky

If you got a line on a dealer who can get me a silver one or perhaps a Mystichrome one out the door in the low 30's e-mail me at "rsantora@ix.netcom.com".

Thanks Tony

Hi Tony and welcome to the board. I'm not a dealer, not affiliated with Ford and not an expert on paint. (And of course I'm partial to Mystichrome).

That being said I thought that I would set the record straight on the Mystichrome paint. The color changing paint additive (called ChromaFlair) is a light interference pigment that is stirred into the base like any paint additive. Therefore the paint does not require special handling. The paint is applied using the same process as any other factory color. The paint has the same durability as any other factory paint and due to the dramatic color shifts it tends to hide any paint applied during body repair.

This information about the Mystichrome (and much more) can be found on the official Ford SVT site.

Understand of course that I'm partial to Mystichrome. :D , but I just thought that I'd pass the info along about the paint. All of this being said of course buy the color that you want most.

I was a die hard GM fan until I test drove my Cobra. That did it for me! These cars are fast, handle well, and yet are confortable to drive with all of the creature comforts.

Good luck in your search!

Russ, sorry I just realized I said Hi Tony actually I meant Hi Russ. DOHH! I've only had one cup of coffee (liquid IQ) so far this morning and my brain cells are still asleap!.

Oh but not to have you feel left out Hi Tony! (I'm an equal opportunity greeter).

It's gonna be a long day I can tell already. :D
