After leaving a friend's house, a few miles up the road, a jeep Cherokee pulled out in front of the mighty green 99. I "t-boned" it at about 35-40ish. The jeep rolled into a ditch, and Tarah and I were met with a few air bags. We are both okay, though Tarah (my girlfriend) has a pretty sore breast bone. We just got back from the hospital. In my "professional" opinion, the car is totaled. It's all tore to hell. The good thing is, is that we are all okay (even the occupants of the other vehicle), but there's now 1 less 99 cobra gracing the roads. Pics to come tomarrow.........

Thank you guys very much for the support. I'll be heading to the police station today to get the police report, then I'll be heading out to see the car. I know it's going to be totaled, but I'm going to try to buy it back. The car was still running somehow even after the accident. But, the crossover tube for the coolant was ruptured IIRC. As promised........ the pics will be posted in a few hours.............

So sorry to hear about your car, but very glad to hear you and your girlfriend are ok.
Didn't the Jeep see you coming??? Some people are asleep at the wheel. Hopefully THEIR insurance will buy you a new car.

I know it seems that way, but you have no idea how relieved I was when I looked over at my passanger, Tarah, and saw that she was okay. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I hurt her. I'm very impressed with the way the car held up, yet it's disturbing to see it "out of it's prime". I'm not sure if it will be totaled out. There is some extreme front damage, which can be seen in the pics, but pretty much from the strut towers back (save for fenders and doors) the car is still in excellent shape. There is some frame damage up front though.

I want to thank everyone once again for showing support, and sending condolences (spelling).
I got some news with the police report. The other vehicle recieved a citation for "failing to yeild the right of way" and "unsafe movement". Fault was placed on the other driver legally. So that's good news. But, the bad news is that he is "uninsured".

I know buddy. That sucks huh. I just left Jeff Mozingo's house, showing Tarah his car. We were talking about doing some trading, but I guess that won't be happening.
If it ends up not getting totaled out, I'll be putting an '03 cobra front bumper on and some kind of aftermarket hood. But I would be getting rid of it shortly thereafter.

I'm sure the deductable will come from my pocket, but I will get the money out of that guy one way or another. He's in the military, so he wont' be going anywhere soon. I'm pretty sure my insurance company will sue that money out of him. He's payin Tarah's doctor bill too, whether he knows it or not.

Jeez Josh, I just looked at the photos, it's amazing that you two walked away. Make sure that if you feel any back or neck pain you get it checked out.
About ten years ago an uninsured motorist did the exact same thing to a car that I had just bought brand new one week to the day of the accident. My insurance covered it all and since I was found zero percent at fault it didn't change my rates. But about two or three days after the accident my back and neck froze up. I had compressed something (can't remember muscles or tendens or something) and I had to go to a chiropractor for about six months.
So dude if you or your gal are feeling any physical pain get it checked out. (By the way I'm not a doc or chiropractor or anything so this isn't any advertisement or anything.)
I can't believe that idiots still drive without insurance.

We'll be sure to get everything checked out. Tarah is almost done with her school (registered nursing) so she's the smart one when it comes to the medical stuff. I feel almost 100% besides being a little sore. I'll be fine. I have 100% free medical with the military, so it won't be a problem there. Tarah is more than welcome to use MY insurance anyway she can to feel better. She just got a perscription of motrin, and she'll probably end up going to to Chiropractor in the weeks to come.

Alrighty........ here's the update.
I purchased this car with 48,xxx miles on it in mint condition for $13,500 with taxes included. Insurance declared the car's damage @$14,XXX and said it was a "total loss". They valued the car at $19,9XX. I purchased the vehicle back for $4000, and have since sold it for another profit. I'm officially "without bills" for the first time since I was saving money to buy the black 97 cobra. :) Which, should be stretching her legs today. :D

I'm in the Marines. So is he. I don't know the guy personally, he works in a different squadron. I'm going to be consulting a lawyer to see what my options are for my girlfriends medical treatment. I'm not gonna try to clean him out, I just want him to pay for her medical bill. The military is gonna screw him pretty good i'm sure of it.

I'm glad you two are o.k. ---
and I never did like jeep Cherokee's and now I really don't...
they almost always take a roll when they crash --
and their drivers usually drive as if they are driving a performance vehicle.....
surprise --- it isn't!!!!
it isn't even a truck..... not underneath it isn't....

I don't think they are that bad. I mean, safety wise, it seemed alright. Yeah, it rolled over, but it rolled into a draining ditch, so I bet just about every vehicle in that situation would have rolled over. I'm sure a vette or something wouldn't have, but it would'a been messed up for sure. I think the jeep held together nicely protecting it's occupants. But, people usually drive them as performance vehicles, but this guy wasn't, he just doesn't remember what he learned in kindergarden "look both ways, hold hands, and cross the street quickly, but don't run."

Life is a gamble no matter what. Uninsured motorists also include people who loose there license from DUI's that still drive other cars belonging to other people. I knew of one but he is now in jail (again). At least one more driving hazard is off the road. This stroy reminds me of the incident I had a few years back while driving to my parents one fine day before Christmas. Some young driver decided that he could pull out to make a left turn after a car traveling in the opposite direction I was going in honked their horn to let him out. He peeled out under hard acceleration without looking where he was going finding himself being crushed by a Ford Explorer. I am greatful the other driver was unharmed since I litterally wound up driving over the top of the front of his car on impact. I was angry at most, but was thankful that nobody was killed. I wound up talking to his entire family since they were all at the church where the accident occured.
I am pleased to hear that both you and your girlfriend survived the accident without any long term issues other than having to rebuild the car. I think the problem with most drivers is that they get impatient but mostly lack of awareness and poor judgement is the main cause. There are some people out there driving today that should not have the priveledge to do so. Some of them should be banned from getting in a motorvehicle other than masstransit. There are even some drivers that fear the task of driving alltogether which can make them a bit unpredictable at times. Always buckle-up it could save your life especially if the air bags do not deploy. I have seen some scary accidents during my 700k miles of driving. The worst one I ever saw was of a family down in Orlando Florida where the father in the family was looking down at the two bodies covered under a blanket laying in a thick pool of fluid that did not come from the vehicle after it rolled over. That nearly put me into a state of shock where I had to pull off the side of the highway at a rest stop for a bit. My wife (now an ex) and I were in a bit of tears after seeing that. Sorry for that bit of reality which is best ignored. :(
