ok -
the question has been asked about the best way to preserve and keep the suede inserts on the seats clean....

leather happens to be my speciality....

but having the suede inserts can pose an interesting dilemna ---

You don't want to use a spray on the suede as a protector, because it may not be good for the leather --

or, if you do, you have to cover the leather well and that can be a pain...

any suggestions anyone?

I'm here and thanks for posing the question. I'm very particular about keeping my vehicles clean and in good shape, so any suggestions on the suede is appreciated.

I am no means an expert on the subject, but I am an owner, so I will pass along my observations and experience in the hopes that they *might* help.

The inserts are not actually SUEDE but a material named "Alcantara", which I guess is some sort of Italian suede knock-off that is much better in these applications.

Here is a website

and here is the instructions for cleaning

I am very impressed with how well my 01 cobra seats have held up to my daily driving. I initially acquired some 01 seat covers (with cobra emblem) to put on the seats, but they decided to leave them be (I figured the covers rubbing the Alcantara would do more damage anyway). So now I have a set of unused (didn't even due to initial wash) seat covers and am happy with the seats.

FWIW- when I first got the car, I did use the Scotch Gaurd protector spray on it, I just used pieces of cardboard to protect the leather where I was spraying

Thank you so much! You've been very, very helpful, I appreciate it. I thought the same about seat covers, bad idea and besides, the interior is so pretty, why cover it up. Its clean and looks great now and I want to keep it that way. It puts a smile on my face on my drive to work (in the summer months, at least). Thanks for sharing!

Not sure where he got that pic, beautiful if they're in his car. My car is stock, the seats have the faux suede as pictured but with the Cobra emblem. Mine are fairly light in color so I really want to keep 'em looking good. This material is great stuff, I'm impressed especially knowing its not the real deal! Very easy to maintain and they wear like iron. I've got 30K miles on my car and they look like new. And I want to keep 'em looking like that! :bounce: :fordflag:

:D I wish those were mine, but they aren't. I Have the stock 01 cobra seats with the Alcantara inserts like all 01 and 03's have. Those seats are from the website link I provided, in the auto manufacturer section (its in Italian) gallery..its a Ford Puma and those are SPARCCO racing seats

go down to FORD and CLICK Puma Racing. I am sure you could find those racing seats somewhere, I will look around and let yuou know

I'd love to do something similiar with Trigger's seats...

I'll take the picture over to my favorite interior guy
(Kens Kustom Korner) and see if he can do something similiar or figure something unique out for me!....
