View Full Version : August 28 SCMC show at Parkway Ford

Cobra owners from NC, SC, VA, TN and anywhere else, put Saturday, August 28 on your calendars. Parkway Ford in Winston-Salem, NC is one of our club sponsors and we need to show them good support with a large showing on that day. Good weather is planned (bring sunscreen).
Parkway Ford's website has driving directions as well as good information about the dealership. One of their pages shows a new GT, but no promises.
Those of us who went to the 100th in Dearborn last summer got to see some of them. http://www.parkwayford.com/
Go to SCMC site and download the registration form, send it in. Todd Shanaberger, Burke Dawson and myself are organizers of this event, so bring on your questions.

Well, since the Houston group is out for the trophy this year, that means either the Parkway organizers or the Young Ford organizers will most likely get it. The Atlanta chapter is out for this year due to the weather killing the event. That leaves New Engand, Ted Russell, Parkway, or Young to compete. May the best chapter win!
Also, if you want a portable dyno up there for the event, we can schedule that too?? :D

I would make sure your car is the cleanest it has ever been. Most awards are lost by a point or two because one member had a cleaner car. It is based on cleanliness and workmanship, period.
I always expect to lose when I go to a show and if I win then that's great. :bounce: I won't be bringing my Mystic so that will be one less Mystichrome going to the show.
Good Luck.

You didn't mention the "free" lunch which essentially pays for their entry fee and also that Parkway is raffling off a "free" CMP weekend with the SCMC next year. So, if you can't afford to go open tracking but want to try it then now is a good time to come out, shine that ride up, and enter to win a free weekend at CMP with the rest of the club!

My guidance would be for new or almost new Cobras with very few miles on them to register in the regular classes rather than daily driver because extra points are given to high mileage cars in that class. Up to you, however.
Glad to have you there, get your fett wet and learn the ropes of car shows with this SCMC group. We'll have a great time, meet lots of new acquaintances and see what others are doing with their cars. Get good honest guidance and experience.

Roxboro isn't that far from Burlington so it wouldn't take long to get to us. Just an offer if you'd like to ride with us. We'll have 5-6 of us leaving there at 7:45-8am to ride to the show. Blake, please enter your car! When you see my car, you will wish you did. My car has 102,000+ miles on it. I bought it with 94,000 on it. It was not taken well care of from its previous owners, i.e. the pitting on the front end is real bad. So, don't do like I did at the 5th anniversary celebration, and regret not showing. It is a lot of fun, and you get constructive criticism on what you should focus on for your car. Believe me, I am not real pleased with the appearance of my car. So, come join us!

Tina and I had a great time, hot, but great. Thanks to the gang for putting on a good event. Dinner was great!
On the way home, Tina and I stopped in at the Lancaster Motor Speedway to catch some fast dirt track action. Some good racing, and lots of dust. The highlight of this was when two cars got together on the front stretch. The car on the inside pinched the car on the outside into the wall. The car on the inside drove over the front of the other car, that car pushed it up on top of its roof. I swear, I have never seen this before. So, here we have two cars stacked up, the car on the bottom continues through turns 1 and 2. Hilarious!

Can someone tell me who received the pair of Audiovox walkie-talkies as raffle prize during the Parkway Ford show? I found the user guide for them and would like to mail it to the new owners.
