I just got a 1999 cobra it has 28k miles and the tires are shot. I would like to go bigger. Does any one have any Ideas? It now has 245/45/17 I was thinking of 255 how big can i go. I would like to lower it in the next few months also. But I would like to keep the rims it now has. Thanks for your help!

On my 99, which is lowered, I used to run a 255/45/17 on the front and a 275/40/17 on the back. I have dropped back down to the stock size on the front because I was wearing through the fender liners on the front. Too much sudden braking on the road courses. I came close to waering through the wiring harness which is on top of the left front fender well.
I use Bridgestone Potenza 750's all the time, street, strip, track and they do very well in all conditions. My car is supercharged......rear tires don't last too long. Tires are my biggest maintenance expense.
