I am very close to getting my cobra dream car, but my question is " Does anyone actually use these as everyday drivers? " Test drove a 2004 cobra and of course loved it. Brings me back to my earlier days when I had a 71 BOSS 351, only newer and better. Are these cars better left in the garage for weekend use only? Need to hear from others who use theirs' daily before jumping in! Help! PUSH ME!:bounce:

Honestly dude, I think that an 04 would be about as effective in the snow as trying to walk on water. Heck, i've drove a 97 in the rain and snow, and it hardly goes anywhere with the tap of the gas. Be careful, cause she'll swap ends on you before you even know what happened. FURTHER yet, an 04 has almost 80 MORE horsies then a 97, so i'm sure you'd REALLY be spinnin everywhere you go.
Now don't get me wrong though...can a Cobra be drove in the rain or snow? Sure.....but it's gonna take 10x more effort and precaustion then if you were drivin a weak lil 4 banger or even small V6 (front wheel drive, of course).
I'm more then sure there's people on this board who use their cobra's almost year round, and i'm not doubting them....but I personally would feel much better knowing my baby is hibernating from November to March, and that i'm drivin around something front-wheel in the meantime. Even during the summer, it's mostly a cruising/weekend car only

Driving an 04 would require a lot of gas money depending on how far you live from work. At over 2.00 a gallon, it could add up fast. My 94 Cobra coupe gets 23 mpg going back and forth to work and that's good enough for me to go all week on a tank of gas. (60 miles a day)
Save the 04 for the weekends and occasional trips to work. Use a beater for everyday driving to and from work. It's hard, believe me, to leave the 04 at home but in the long run, you will have done the right thing. All of this depends on whether or not you have the funds for an extra set of wheels of course. :D

I would say it depends upon where you live and therefore what type of conditions you may have to drive in.
I live in Southern California. Snow is non-existent and rain is few and far between. My 04 Cobra is my daily driver. I love to drive it. The Clutch can be a little stiff when sitting in stop and go traffic but I got use to it quickly.
I bought my Terminator to drive it. I find it has all the creature comforts and I average about 18-20 MPG. If you drive the car moderately it will get fair gas mileage (better than most SUVs). If you use boost a lot you'll be down around 15 MPG.
I use the traction control in rain situations but that is the only time. The rest of the time I start the car and shut off traction control. I would not drive the car in snow though.
If you're looking for an economical car or a car to drive in snow then a Terminator is not for you. If you don't encounter much rain and no snow and you want a car that will make you smile every day then I say go for it!

I bought my 03 with the intent of daily driving. But it is so nice that I went out and bought a Honda Accord to keep the miles down. That being said I drive it a lot in the summer. Never when there is snow or left over salt on the roads during winter. That means I do not drive it a lot in the winter.
Keep in mind that the clutch is very stiff and traffic could be an issue.

Keep in mind that the clutch is very stiff and traffic could be an issue.Amen to that! :rotf: That was the toughest part to get used to on my Cobra!
The first time I drove a cobra, I thought something was wrong because it seemed so heavy compared to my probe!

I'm with Jeff  I drive my 03 everyday! Of course, I live in Alabama, and the worst weather we get is rain. I'm only 12 miles from work, and the only long trips she goes on is to club events. I would like a foul weather car (I don't like driving her in the rain), but I do love driving this car everyday :D :D

I'm with Cheryl on this one! I bought mine to drive it, its way too pretty to sit in the garage. I use my truck for winter, or if there's a bad thunderstorm.
Life is way too short....enjoy it! :bounce:

Of course after spouting off about how great it is havin then Cobra as a daily driver I had to fill the beast up today. $2.61 a gallon!!!!! $33.95 to fill it up!!!

"I do solemly swear that I will useth my boost as little as possible. I will only use boost when the situation absolutely requires it. I will only use boost to pass cars that are traveling at a unsafely slow rate of speed. I will only use boost to accelerate to the proper speed limit. I will only use boost to remove my vehicle from an unsafe road condition or obsticle. I will only use boost to remove carbon deposits from my exhaust system. I will only use boost to ensure that bugs will not accumulate on my front grill. I will only use boost to teach lesser automobiles the value of modern V8 technology. I will only use boost to warm up my rear tires to a proper operating temperature. I will only use boost when accelerating from a stop light to ensure that I am not adding to traffic congestion. I will only use boost to ensure that my Boost gauge is operating properly. But NEVER - EVER will I use boost soley for entertainment purposes."

I wonder what woudl happen if you told that to a cop when you got pulled over. you get pulled over for burning a little tire. he pulls you over and you tell him you have to warm them up to a nice operational temp. ha ha. he woudl laugh then give you a ticket i guess.

OK! I did it! Went out and bought the mystichrome today! I've researched and heard enough about it. What a beautiful car. You guys sound like alot of fun and a good network for info. Living in south Florida, didn't need to worry too much about snow or bad weather. Gave me just enough of a push!:bounce: Going out tonight with the wife to celebrate. (We're taking her maxima) :)

Maybe I should have tried the "in neutral" at the lights trick.
Now my left leg is twice the size of my right. :rotf:
