Vibration

I had to take my car back to the dealer (very reluctantly) today because of a vibration that starts at 35mph to 65mph. I thought it would be something simple like the tires were out of balance because it could be felt in the steering wheel. The tech said it was in the suspension and now I am told it's typical for a SVT because of the engine. I told him he was full of BS. I've owned many performance cars before and never a vibration from the engine. Have anyone had this problem before with the 04 Cobra? The car only have a 100 miles on it.

can you describe, in detail what exactly vibrates and where it seems to come from,?

It seem to be coming from the tires. When I test drove the car I noticed the vibration and thought it was because the car had been sitting and the tires had flat spots that would go away when it was driven. The steering wheel also shakes as if the tires need to be balanced or as if one of them is out of round. T

Take it back to the dealership and have them test drive the car for tire and wheel balance. It could be something as simple as a wheel weight fallen off. :)

So did they check the balance of the tires? Or maybe a bent wheel?

Same problem here. Had it at the dealer twice. 1st time they balanced the tires and it was even worse. Took it back and they did something called a road force balance or something like that, where the have the weight of the car on the tires somehow when there balanced. Its better but still not perfect. :mad: Good luck!

It could be several things. Problem is that when you buy the car you may not be sure what wheels really came on it. If it sounds like a freight train with the vibration it could be a wheel bearing. It may be what everyone else suggested wheel balance. I would have them check the wheel alignment as well. Sometimes they come so out of whack they wear the tires down in no time.

As for vibration, unless the road is poor, my 04 is smooth and solid. The only time it vibrates is when the rear looses grip and you can feel the rear end breaking a bit loose.

I had a vibe that started at 50mph and worst at 65 and seemed to go away above 90. This was on a my 04. The vibe was in the steering wheel and rear end. I knew it was the tires and it was. All for tires had flat spots. 4 new tires and everything is fine. Take it to a different dealer and have them check the tires on a force road balancer.

this may be BS but ive heard tire balencers most of them atleast are out of allignment and they wont allign your tires properly so.probley BS but just my .02 cents.

99.9% of the time, it IS a balance problem. Thats the cheapest way to make sure, or your first stop. Next is an alignment shop of course.
