View Full Version : Computer Questions????
I have a friend that would like to do a few things to his cobra without computer help. I was told today that the 2.93 pulley would not need a chip or programmer but with the 2.80 you would? Is this correct? He would like to add the 2.93 pulley, air filter and maybe a UPR idler pulley. This came from a reputable shop. thanks for the help

I would be cautious about changing the boost without checking the fuel/air curve to make sure you are running where it should. You don't want it to run too lean so I would at least dyno it for the mod. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure about that, but I've been told that the Cobra's run pretty rich from the factory, so I guess a little bit more air wouldn't hurt! Just to be safe I'd get the air/fuel ratio checked though!

You can run higher boost on the 03/04's with the stock PCM, AS LONG AS IT KNOW WHATS GOING ON.

03 and 04 Cobras come with a 3.65" pulley with approx 8-10 Lbs of boost. These cars do run alittle rich but to be safe always get a Dyno tune if you change the pulley. You can go down to a 3.4" pulley and get 10 -12 Lbs and be relitively safe or go down to a 3.2" pulley with 11 - 14 Lbs and may be close to detination at high temps. DO NOT go under a 3.2" pulley without a chip and Dyno tune.

My 04 air to fuel (on the dyno) started around
13.2:1 @2500rpm
12.4:1 @4500rpm
11.6:1 @6200rpm
pretty steady slope down as rpm went up. The dyno tech seemed to be ok with the numbers and said its running on the safe side. With talking to some friends they told me 13:1 range is pretty lean. They did not mention anything to do with rpm though. Just wondering what you guys think. The car has a pulley(6lb), predator tune, CAI, and throttlebody.
