Hi Everyone,

I am brand spanking new! I got my 2001 Cobra SVT convertible last night. It has 12K miles on it and looks brand new, so I am psyched!

It is definetly the most powerful car I have owned and I love it. I was not even considering a Mustang...I certainly would never have gotten a GT or base model...I test drove it because I loved the convertible aspect of it, and because I knew it was fast. Well, all I can say is that the rumble of the engine sold me.

So, I guess all I have to say is that I look forward to reading up on the car and the message board! I do not know that much about it so the site should help alot. I also hope to not get a speeding ticket anytime soon. :D :D :D :D

Thanks, I like to think so!

They called my color pewter, but I believe it is the same as yours...mineral grey. I really like it.

How do I find out what the production number on the car is? I believe there were only 3384 convertibles made, which is pretty sweet. I am going to look for a badge or something on it in a little while.

There are a few things I want to do with the car but I'd like to keep it pretty stock for the most part. I guess I will be doing some research to see what everyone on the message board does.

On the way home last night I dropped it in 4th on the highway and blew by everyone...what a rush!!

yup you have mineral grey, as that is the only grey made in 2001

:rotf: next time, when you have a good strech, drop it down to 3rd and REALLY see what it does :D , it might take some practice to clutch and revmatch. Just make sure the "law" is not around

In 2001, there were 7251 Cobra's produced, 3867 Coupe's and 3384 Verts. Our of the Verts, only 382 were Mineral Grey.

You can also call 1800.Ford.SVT, and with a proof of ownership (usually an insurance card with the car listed on it), you can give them the VIN, and they will send you your Cobra Build Certificate.

As far as mods, these forums are really helpful, don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Welcome to the group, Jen. Cobra ownership is awesome. To take advantage of all the club's benefits, you should spend a couple bucks and become a member of SCMC. The events that we do around the country are a blast. shows, track events (where you can safely drive at SPEED!), etc..

There's are lots of knowlegeable Cobra owners on here who are always willing to lend a hand or some info.

Hi Guys,

OK...I have a couple of questions. Forgive me if they are dumb...

1. When I shift too fast or too slow, it seems that the car makes a "clunk" noise. It is not very loud at all, and probably is just due to the fact that I am not used to the car, but I wanted to make sure that I was not going crazy. This car feels like a muscle car...the clutch is tight and I think my left calf is going to be a little larger than my right soon... :)

2. Does anyone here have access to get a carfax report for free? I don't want to pay for one and know that alot of people have unlimited access. If you do and don't mind pulling one for me, send me an email and I will provide the VIN.

3. Is anyone watching the cars from Overhaulin' on TV now? I am a huge fan of classic cars and it's great!

4. I have heard that my car goes 0-60 in 4.8 and also 5.2. Which is correct? I need to do some research and find out what the differences are between the models. Also, I need to learn to drive well enough to do 0-60 in 4.8...

Thanks everyone! I appreciate any help, and hope you don't think I am a dumb girl who does not know a drive shaft from a dipstick.

I am really pissed off about this...I got an insurance quote last night and found out my lisence has been suspended for over two years! I got a speeding ticket on my way home from Hilton Head, SC in 9/02. They sent me something in the mail that said I had to appear in court. Well I called them and said, can I just send a check? Being the idiot I am I sent a money order, did not keep the reciept or follow up on it...never got a notice that said that they suspended it or that they never received payment. So basically either the money order was lost or stolen. So I had to send a second payment of $210, and now I ALSO have to go to the DMV once the check and paperwork have been processed and renew my lisence for another $35.

I AM SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So NOW I have to be careful not to speed until I am officially a liscenced driver. :(

Doh :doh2: I hope they do everything correctly this time and you get your license back in a timely manner.

Hi Guys,
1. When I shift too fast or too slow, it seems that the car makes a "clunk" noise.....

2. Does anyone here have access to get a carfax report for free? ...

Thanks everyone! I appreciate any help, and hope you don't think I am a dumb girl who does not know a drive shaft from a dipstick.

1. You are experiencing the "Driveline Clunk". It is the nature of the IRS in our cars (99+ Cobra's). There are modifications and aftermarket mods that drastically reduce it, such as urethane bushings, etc...

2.no I sorry, :( , but I hope someone else can help with that.

3. Nope, missed that one..but I like classics as well.

4. The 0-60 on an 01 has been reported to be anywhere from 5.0-5.4 (5.4 by SVT). But, not alot of people in Cobra world speak in terms of 0-60, but rather, the 1/4 mile performance. The IRS is pretty hard to launch, and takes some practice, so that is a big factor. Another is, people don't keep these cars stock for long :D

I hate the feeling that I have when I think I know alot about cars, then I get a new one, and I think I know nothing again...hehehe...actually that is part of the fun. Thanks for answering all my questions! At least now I know that the clunk was not imagined. I thought it was inferior driving skills.

I hate my job today I want to go drive around instead...:(
