Ok.. It must be me or something, but i am a little fuzzy when it comes to do aftermarket pullies, or pullies for that matter. Now here is the question..

I want to go with a 2.93 or a 2.80.. besides the upper pulley.. what else do i need.. ie idlers (if so how many etc).. Also, what are the torque specs for the stock pullies

good question!!

I'm about ready to get a pulley upgrade too! I was told by a mechanic to get a different lower pulley too. He said it would cut down on the belt slipping??????

I hadn't heard that before.

I asked a JDM and they suggest going with the 2.80 over the 2.93. They said on the idler to just update the factory idler pulley's. They said Metco(sp?) is a good choice. UPR has a good looking idler that bolts up next to the supercharger and i have one on my 03 and it works great. Helped with belt slipping at high rpm's. Heard alot of bad on UPR's sevice but the only time i bought from them it was ok with no problems. As far as the lower, i have not heard much about upgrading it??

More than likely you will also need a shorter belt, unless you go with the idler pullly; then the stock belt length should work. A new or updated tune will also be necessary.

I would go with the 2.8 and an idler pulley set. I have no slip with this set-up. Some people run the smaller upper pulley with no slip, but to be safe, I got the idler kit. I've heard the lower pulley change is very good but very difficult to install. The upper pulley swap took me 45 minutes. 2 people needed to put on the pulley.

Kenne Bell has a pulley removal tool which makes the job easier. You may need to change the fuel injectors to compensate for the higer boost as well as flashing the chip to maintain proper fuel/air mixture. For now, my motor will remain stock. I would like to see how it performs at the track in stock trim before I start making any changes.

I really like the Billetflow pulley an idler set-up. It looks awesome and the quality is top notch. What ever pulley you go with, make sure you get a good tune.

Anyone manufacturing a decent pulley/idler assembley has both the tools to pull it, and the idler/tensioner, which i believe is a half inch shorter over the stock belt (correct me if i'm wrong guys) .:) MotoBlue makes a decent one for stock setups, including their lowdrag pulleys. I Think the lowdrag assembly is for 302/stroked shite configs though.

We have the 2.8" pulley with a 74.5" belt (stock is 75"). Had problems with slippage at high RPM's until we added the UPR idler...that solved the problem. Be sure to do your boost bypass mod and I recommend changing the chip to Diablosport or something similar 'cause the pulley mod alone will lean out your air/fuel ratio.

P.S. No reason to change the lower pulley...do either the upper OR the lower...not both-that would be cancelling out the effect of the other!

That's not exactly true. The upper pulleys go down in size for more boost... while the lower pulley goes bigger for more boost. If you combine the two then you basically create more boost than what you could with just an upper pulley swap.

You can run a bigger lower, with a moderately smaller upper and get more boost but without the worry of belt slippage. I ran a 3.0" upper/6lb lower for a while and liked it... I still had belt slippage but the upper was a non slip. I went to a 2.80" Reichard no-slip and a 4lb lower... I got a tight enough belt on it and got rid of most of the slippage. You won't totally eliminate it as some slip is a good thing. With this pulley combo my car made a max of 17psi and made monster torque numbers. You can see by my sig that indeed is a fact ;)

It is imperative you get tuned when you swap pulleys. ;) Also, you'll get buttloads more torque from the 2.80 over the 2.93 setup.

So when you gonna update that sig Shannon??? Time to let the general public in on your "STOCK" black supercharger option! ;) :D

or you could just eliminate slippage all the way by going with the cog setup like me :bounce:

James where did you get your pully at? Drew said it looked like the one on his Buell which I think looks pretty sweet. also how much boost does the 2.80 put out?

With a cold air kit Josh, 13-14 psi with metco aux idler, 2.8 upper. Weather effects it some as well.

Ssssshhhhh man... I told you it's stock. You not believe me or something ;);)

And it IS the "black supercharger option" as it even says "FORD RACING" on the decal on the side. How you like dem apples :D:D:D

j/k Greg... I don't have a tune yet so no power numbers to "brag" about :)
