You asked for it and The Texas Mile is back for its second full season in 2005.

The Texas Mile would like to personally thank all of those who participated in and supported the 2004 series. It was an exciting year for all. We saw world records established; personal best achieved and had some new inductees to our 200+ MPH club.

Between the 2003 and 2004 season we have 14 participants that have achieved the 200+ MPH and hope to have more achieve this goal in 2005.

MOTORCYCLE CLASS

▪ Scott Guthrie - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 251.147 MPH - 2004

▪ Rich Yancy - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 244.358 MPH - 2004

▪ Super Dave (Gebhardt) - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa - 210.10 MPH - 2003
▪ Joe Richards - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 204.60 MPH - 2003
▪ Mark Peterson - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 203.057 MPH - 2004

▪ John Landry - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 202.83 MPH - 2003
▪ Thomas "Mad Dawg" Barker - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa - 201.074 MPH - 2004

▪ Mark Brownlee - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 200.54 MPH - 2003

▪ Richard Almond - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 200.72 MPH - 2004

▪ Eduardo Ibarra - Suzuki 1300R Hayabusa – 200.43 MPH - 2004

AUTOMOBILE CLASS

▪ Bill Scott - AA Blown Fuel Lakester (current Top Speed Record Holder) 257.117 MPH - 2004

▪ David Freiberger - 1980 Chevy Camaro - 213.442 MPH - 2004

▪ Tonya Turk - 1980 Chevy Camaro (current record holder for fastest female) 208.914 MPH - 2004

▪ Keith Turk - 1980 Chevy Camaro - 205.697 MPH - 2004

The Texas Mile record of 257.117 MPH was set by Bill Scott from Hawaii in a AA Blown Fuel Lakester and our fastest female record of 208.914 MPH was set by Tonya Turk from Alabama in a 1980 Chevy Camaro.

The 257 MPH record that was set in 2004 will replace the 210 MPH that you saw on the logos, website and Texas Mile merchandise, talk about bragging rights, this is another reason of breaking the top speed record for the year.

We have met with Goliad County and our Schedule for the 2005 season is as follows (pending TXDOT approval, this should not be a problem as we have been approved for all past events):

March 19-20

July 16-17

October 22-23

The Texas Mile is a 3 series event for 2005. To be considered as a class Champion for 2005 (1st, 2nd or 3rd place) you must compete in that class for at least 2 of the 3 events. Those who achieve the 200+ MPH will still be acknowledged & inducted into the 200+ MPH club for the year.

The Texas Mile is growing as a legacy for Texas and gaining exposure in all areas of motorsports. The Texas Mile received national and local news coverage through:

· TheRaceSite.com – 2004 NASA section

· Grassroots Motorsports Magazine – All 2004 publications under NASA section

· HOT ROD Magazine – August & March 2004, January 2005

· LandRacing.com - August 2004

· dialD.com – August & March 2004 – Home Page

· The Texas City Sun – August 2004

· dialD Magazine – July 2004

· Bonneville Racing News – June 2004

· ABC TV Affiliate – KAVU – May 22, 2004

· And many other publications and forums

We are excited about hosting another season of The Texas Mile and welcome all Motorcycles and Automobiles - Foreign and Domestic, Street, Race and Land Speed Racing (SCTA rules will be honored).

We will be updating the website over the next few weeks so stay tuned.

The March date is the same as the proposed Austin Cruise. Was anyone planning on going to the March Texas Miles that was also wanting to do the Austin Cruise?

I can't do a Thursday event so the Ed Paez thing is out for me. I may be up at MSR with NASA on 3/4-6 or do the TWS event with TDE if there's room, haven't nailed down the plans yet, race car isn't cooperating lately. Guess the long winter season off has got her cranky.

Hope to meet up with one or some of you at one of those two events!
