On the traction control switch, when the button is pushed and the light is on does it mean that the traction control is engaged or disengaged? Thanks--also, I bought my Cobra in August, and have yet to receive my certificate of authenticity from SVT. Is this unusual? Thanks again.

traction control is ON untill you turn it off. I think the light is ON when tc is on. (trying to remember with out going outside here...) :D

as far as the cert., did you buy it new from the dealer? either way, I would call 1 800 ford svt and request it!

When you push it the T/C button and the light comes on then the T/C is off. I'm not sure if you automatically get the certificate from SVT when you buy a car brand new or not. I just bought a new '04 and haven't seen my cerificate yet, but it's only been about 2-3 weeks. But if I was you I would call SVT, August seems like along time.

Hope this helps

I hope so, I can't waite to get it framed with a good matting, and put it in our "little" office here at the house, the office is also my car room. I put all my car stuff in there. Stuff for shows, magazines, trophies, die-cast models, R.C. cars, etc....

The TC is off when the light is on. Think of it as a performance button, when you want the raw performance press the button and the light turns on. :D

I called up SVT and asked when the certificates will be sent, they said they will begin mailing them out in Late December. I have not received mine yet either. In fact, I never got the one for the 01 even after calling for it. I will have to see if things are different for the 04.

or you could just buy a Predator and have it turned off completely :D

Thanks for the information. It is kind of odd because a few months ago they said that the would mail the cerificates out. I tried to call SVT today, but kept getting a recording. Blck04cobra1--I'm not sure what a predator is--but that's okay. I'm probably the only person here who is planning on keeping his Cobra stock.

the Predator is a tuning device that allows you to turn off traction control completely and tune your car to run a little better, so you dont have to push the button everytime you get in the car...I never drove with mine on, so I disabled it...also took care of that pesky seat belt alarm with a pair of scissors :D

I have gotten in the habbit of always turning the TC off after starting the car. It is no fun pulling out into heavy traffic and having the TC cut the engine power, car does kind of a nose dive and you run the risk of getting rearended.

Same here. It's automatic for me now when I start my car. Jumped out across a turnpike one night and almost sent my girlfriend through the windshield when I banged second.

Verrrry dangerous safety mechanism for a 400+ horsepower car.

I got ahold of SVT yesterday and asked them about the cerificates and when a person should recieve theirs? They told me it takes about 3 months (usually), and if anybody recieved theirs before that, then they got lucky, and their dealership was on top of things.

Blk04cobra1~I noticed you said you cut your wires to get rid of that pain the a$$ reminder chime for the seatbelt, I just wanted to let you know that in the manual there is a way to disengage the chime. Although cutting wires is probably easier  I disengaged mine the day I bought the car :D

I wear mine 99% of the time  But I live 2 minutes from work, and I work graveyard, so not many of those nice, friendly, caring, protecting, officers of the law out :rotf: Plus anytime your just stopped and talking to somebody and the car is on that damn thing can drive you  But jsut waite until the windows are tinted just as dark if not darker than a limo, then I'm pretty sure I'll still wear it 99% of the time :rotf:

Hey, no problem. I hate that chime. It even does it when the car is on but not running, doesn't make since.

Since I am being lazy, could you guys tell me how to disengage that stupid seatbelt alarm?

It's pretty easy.
1. Shut all the doors, and turn off lights.
2. Put car in nuetral
3. Turn the key to the on position, but do not start
4. You will see the seatbelt reminder light come on
5. After it shuts off, (takes about 2 minutes) you must buckle, then unbuckle the seat belt 3 times ending with it being unbuckled. Then turn the headlights on then off. Then buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 3 more times. All under 60 seconds.
6. Then the seatbelt light comes back on for about 3-4 seconds.
7. After the light shuts off, you then have to buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 1 more time within 7 seconds of the light shutting off.
8. You will notified if it worked by the light flashing 4 times, after the last step.

Do those simple steps and your chimes will go away for ever
Hope you can understand all that.

you do the hokie pokie and you turn yourself around...that's what it's all about :bounce:

Im not trying to be an ass, all though it may come off that way, but it took all of 30seconds to find the wire and snip it...but you could avoid that by following those detailed instructions above...i guess im just too impatient
