Oil change- When??

Hey guys and gals,

I have a new '04, and was wondering when I should do my first oil change? I have heard all kinds of things. I have heard that if I do it at 500 miles then I should do it again at 1500 then again at 3000. I have also heard I should change it at 1000 then again at 2000 and 3000. I don't mind having the oil changed that often for the first 3000, but I want to make sure I do it right. The dealer said for me to just follow the manual and change it at 5000, but I know that can't be right, is it? I change mine anyways every 2500. I have also heard that you don't want to change the oil that frequently during the "break in period". I'm :confused: :dunno:

Any help or more info would be greatly appreciated.

I changed the oil in my 04 at 500 miles then 2500 miles and it will get changed every 2500 miles after that. Most people change theirs every 3000 miles and there is nothing wrong with that. This is the way I have changed all of my cars when I buy them, every 2500 miles. I personally think 5000 miles is too long!
