Will one of these bolt up to a '98 chassis? are there any precausions to doing a swap like this? ex: drive shaft length, brake lines, special braces or bushings...etc.

Yes it will and I suggest talking to Steve Childs on that as he just did it on his 98 convertible.

How about getting a write up from Steve for the newsletter? If I can find one that is complete and reasonably priced I'll be doing the same. Otherwise I'm going 3 link and panhard on the stick axle soon.

Any surprises along the way, or did it bolt right up as advertised?

Everything goes right up. Had to have some brake lines fabricated. ford wanted 130 a side so i went down to the local hydaulic shop and they fabricated some braided lines for 53 bucks...for both! ABS sensors are different so if you're going to do it make sure the idiot that took the assmebly out acutally removed the wires instead of cutting them. The worst part was i put MM urethane IRS kit in place of all the stock rubber bushings. lessen's the wheel hop a great deal but took the better part of 5 hours to do it right.
