To all 500 plus SCMC members,
It's not often that I post experiences such as below about certain products. Upon receiving a link to buy a 23 tooth gear from Blue Oval Industries to get my 3:55 gears to register the speed right. I noticed that the shipping cost was $6.95, almost as much as the gear which was $9.95. Upon sending an e-mail to ask the guy why he charged so much for shipping, his answer was as follows:
"Pay more for the gear from someone else"
Thanks,
John

It's this sort of experiences and treatment that I hope fellow members will avoid in the future. A simple answer with a little professional courtesy would have been a great way to treat a new potential customer.
Hope this helps you out when you decide to make a purchase from this business.

So, I take it you did not buy the item?

An obvious opportunity for "customer service school". Too bad some people in business are like that. They won't last long.

Boy, did this guy find the wrong guy to tick off!
This guy just made sure that 500 Cobra owners and their friends will not do business with him because he needed to make up his low price with a $6.95 shipping charge.
Thanks for the info Tony

Even if there was a legitimate reason for the amount that was definitely not the way to respond. I wonder why they even bother to put the note on the web page to email questions since they don't seem willing to provide appropriate answers.
I did notice that while they state they ship UPS they show a picture of a FedEx truck. Maybe that is why it costs so much, they are paying 2 shippers to send 1 package.

Glad you postd this and I hope everyone else finds parts from someone else. Sounds like the service I get from the Ford dealership's here in Vegas.

I am glad you posted, 'cause I had seen a few things on their site to get. I will do it somewhere else though. Sounds like they need some help.

Tony, you should have used one of the club vendors. :D :D

You are 100% correct but I thought their pricing was right. I just thought the shipping was a little high. When club members order merchandise from the store, they get charged $5.00 for shipping which is already built in to the cost of the product. $6.95 for a gear is way far out. I have mailed stuff over to CA for less then that and it weighed a whole lot more then a gear. Oh well...whatever. They probably lost a few customers due to this thread so maybe now they'll think again about being a little more courteous when a customer has a concern.
For the record, I asked the guy why his shipping was so high and he thought I should have posted the original e-mail so here goes:
Dear Sir, I have sent out tons of merchandise to many people and I am curious as to why it would cost $6.95 to mail a less then one ounce transmission gear? I would like to get one from you but the shipping cost (Almost as much as the product) is a little outrageous. Priority Mail is $3.85 and that's in a huge box for two plus ounces. If you can bring your shipping price down to actual cost, please let me know and I'll be glad to purchase a gear from you.
And to reply to John from BOI, no I do not want something for nothing, just a reasonable answer to a reasonable question. Surely, you didn't think that was too much to ask, did you?

Customer service is EVERYTHING in a business. When will people learn?

and on another note, i just bouth the same gear from steeda it cost me 14.35 for the gear and 5.00 shipping and handling, i have a 410 rear end so it didnt fix it completly but it is alot closer than what it was, if yall ever see a gear with more teeth on it let me know.

If you really want your speedo to be spot on... you will need to change the tranny gear from 8 teeth to 7 and then you will be spot on with the correct number of gear teeth.
It's not so much BOI as it is the principle of a customer asking a legitimate question.
If you got your stuff from Steeda, I hope you got the club 10% discount if it was available on that part?

Thanks Tony for that...I almost bought something from those guys...and now I can guarantee not one cent will go there way! Customer Service, is as stated, EVERYTHING! Trust me...that is one of my big pet peeves with signing vendors. I don't care how bad your day was....leave the tude at the door! I am in sales my self..and trust me..you can not be that way or else your customers go elsewhere. Especially in the Mustang Mod market where there are only about a million vendors...it is just not that hard to buy things elsewhere. Why people don't get that I will never know...and the worst thing is...word of mouth is your BEST or WORST Marketing! So tick off one person...you just ticked off everyone he knows..as it is guaranteed he told every single person he knows!
Sorry you had to go through that Tony..that really is not good at all!!!
Yeah..can't stress enough to all you members..if you are buying something from a club vendor..GET YOUR DISCOUNT! If your going to buy something...CHECK OUT OUR VENDOR SECTION!! AND GET YOUR CLUB DISCOUNT! I know several of the vendors on the list are VERY HELPFUL and WANT YOUR BUSINESS! Sorry for all the yelling but, I can't stress it enough...
Thanks!
