I have a 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT Convertible that we would like to list for sale but have no idea what to ask??? We do know that there were only 499 of them made like this with both the Soft and Hard Convertible Combo. It has 65,000 Original Miles on it but needs some interior work and a paint job. We just got it as an investment "trade" and it did have only one owner who did not take very good care of it, but can very easily be restored with not much to it. The engine is in excellent working condition. Small amount of body work and paint job needed. The interior needs new carpet and leather seats are dried and cracked so would need replaced to completely restore it. Can you give us an estimate, so we know what to list it for?

Thanks in advance!

I too have one of the rare hardtop convertibles. Mine is #447 of 499. It has 103,000 miles and was purchased in May 2007. It is completely stock except for headers, X pipe and Magnaflow exhaust. I still have the original pieces. It also has an export brace. Car is in perfect shape except for a small tear in the driver's side seat.

I would be interesting in acquiring other hardtop convertibles if anyone has one for sale. Looking for drivers.

I know that Ford built 499 of the 1995 black w/saddle tan Cobra convertibles with the removable hardtop option, but did they ever build any in 1994 or 1995 other than these 499 special units?

The reason I ask is that at the Ford 100 year anniversary event in Dearborn I saw a yellow 1994/5 car that had all the right parts including the removable hardtop. The owner claimed he got the car off the Ford "B" Lot (where employees can buy used company cars). He also claimed that Ford made 6 or 7 units before the run of 499 Cobras.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,
Walt

There were 1003 total Cobra Convertibles in 1995 of which 499 of them had the removable hard top option. There were 1000 Indy Pace Cars in 1994, none with a removable hardtop and they were all Rio Red with a tan interior. I have never heard of any others made and Ford selling "used" cars on their B lot is something I have never heard of either. Now, those two years have the holes (plugged) for removable top alignment so that everything would fit correctly. If I were guessing, I'd say the gentleman got the top from a 95 Cobra and made it work on his yellow car. I do not know this for sure but that would be my guess...

Are those the last 6 digits of your VIN? That looks like the mfg date off the door of your GT, is that right?

Oh, okay, that is not a build number. It is a consecutive unit number, that's not the same. Does your car have a "certificate of authenticity" for it?

Your car has an interesting history. You should contact the magazines about doing a shoot on it. As to our registry, we just keep track of the SVT Cobras with assigned build numbers from the factory, thanks.

Sorry I bugged the SVT community. I'll stick with a car that should be in a museum instead of on a list being counted. Thanks anyway.

Like I said, your car has an interesting history. I can put you in touch with a magazine if you want it featured in it? I also know some folks at Ford that may be interested in its history. Thanks.
