Does anyone know the differences between '99 through '04 IRS units?

Besides cat-back and brake hoses, any other parts to make the switch?

If you happen across one for sale in the northern Illinois / souther Wisconsin area please let me know.

99 are 28 spline, the rest are 31 spline.

99 halfshafts are weakest
01 halfshafts are ok for the power but still weak
03-04 halfshafts are the strongest production halshafts, work ok for that power level, but, I have seen an 04 Cobra on drag radials and 500 miles on the ticker snap a halfshaft stagging in front of me at the drag strip.

Moral of that story, wheel hop is a killer.

99-01 differentials have 3.27 gears (in stock form)

03-04 diff. have 3.55 gears (in stock form)

I would definitely put in ALL urethane bushing (IRS, Differential, upper and lower control arms) while you have the IRS out.

And, more than likely, you might need to get 14mm bolts for the front IRS mount as alot of IRS cars came with smaller 12mm bolts from the factory by mistake.

To get the 14mm bolts, go to the dealer and ask for the front control mount bolts to a 99+ GT.

Also, you need to switch the Shocks + springs.
