Who to use for porting?

Im sure this question has been asked before so sorry if it has. Who is the best for porting the s/c? I've seen the Stiegemeier advertisment in MM&FF and just wondering who to use? I dont plan on changing the rear out or heavy track time, so a K/B is probably overkill for me. thanks

I'd use Apten if I were you! http://www.apten-us.comI've heard good things about them and haven't heard any complaints.

Apten actually used to farm all their porting work out to Steigmeier, but not too long ago Apten decided to start doing blower porting in house and cut their ties with Steigmeier. As far as why that happened I haven't a clue... a lot of people have being going to Steigmeier for the newest "oval" port and have been getting good numbers out of them.

If porting the Eaton is what you're after... then go with Steigmeier.

I will throw another name out there..and they are going to do mine..Amazon Racing. They have core shipments available..I think that is what is called..anyway..you can send them yours..and they send you back a unit already ported..leaves your down time to a minimum. www.amazonracing.com Rick of Amazon Racing knows 03/04 cobra's backwards and forwards. They have one of thier on they race..so, they know from thier own experience what works and what does not..and how to..trust me..you won't be disappointed..with either Stieggy or Amazon Racing.

Not at the moment. They work with several clubs in my area..so, I have hesitated to say hey can you also give my club a discount. If the opportunity arises I will discuss with them..and report back. I can tell you that you can get TB/Plenum and Supercharger ported for $599.00 or TB/Plenum for $225.00. I do not have pricing for the supercharger only..but figure 8 to 10hp on TB/plenum only from what I am told. I don't remember what the supercharger will bring. The TB/Plenum are portmatched..so should be no issues.

Steiggy has been running a deal for $395.00 for Supercharger or all of it for $495.00...

I am supposed to be at Amazon Racing on the 26th for a Dyno day..so, I will take some notes and report back

See attached thread for dyno graph..by Steiggy...as far as I can tell..average is 40hp..some higher..some lower..and typically it's all three done..I mean most of the cost is in the blower...so, you may as well do them all at one time..although I am doing the TB/Plenum..and the blower later. Along with going from 10psi boost to about 13 to 15psi. Again see attached..and my numbers are general based upon speaking with alot of people and tuner..and assuming some type of CAI and new exhaust..

Who's got their Supercharger Ported?

I just want to know who all has had their Supercharger ported? Are you happy with the results and how long have you had it ported for, any problems?
I've heard different things about the Ported Supercharger!!

Anyone that has anymore info on the porting of the Supercharger, I would greatly appreciate some info!

Mike, if you could email me with the info you have on this from Rick at Amazon, that would be great! Thanks

My car made 463rwhp prior to the port job....with the only change being the blower ported it made 508rwhp...45rwhp gain.

The only complaint I have is a severe loss of traction.

Cobra330, not trying to rain on your parade, and I would LOVE to get a club discount from AR, lord knows they have enough of my $ already. But you need to run it through Tony (cobrabitin) first.

Your not...I am the Marketing Director for SCMC..so, I basically handle that part for the club..that's why I made the comment. And once I discuss that with a vendor..I am in constant contact with Tony..right Tony? I just don't advertise that stuff in my signature...

I just got off the phone with Bob at Stiegemeier and he insures me that the porting won't cause any problems!
Some people have been having problems casue they either get the port done by someone who doesn't know the whole idea of porting and over-ports the blower which weakens the blower housing and it can't handle the heat of the engine!
The other thing he mentioned to me it that when porting the blower he recommends running the 2.93 pulley rather than the 2.80. Reason is because the 2.80 will cause othe supercharger to have over spin, which in the long term will cause problems for the blower. Also, he recommends that you keep the stock lower pulley!
But, they are shooting for bigger gains right now, but actually can't advertise until they have the testing done! I'm going to go ahead and send mine in after I get the pulley on it and tuned, and see what kind of gains I get, plus Bob is going to throw a few things at me for testing!
