Project J

What is it?

Project J is a 1995 Black SVT Mustang Cobra Coupe. It needs a lot of work and we will be posting both video and pictures of the progress of the car. It will not be a concours show car but rather a daily driver brought back to life from years of neglect.

Problems with Project J:

1. Faded Paint

2. Small dents and dings

3. Harmonic Balancer slipping off the rubber insulator

4. Dash board has a toggle switch for the lights

5. Window regulator on driver side not working properly

6. Keys do not work for ignition and doors

7. clutch and brake pedals worn down

8. Seats are ripped and dry rotted

9. Needs new carpet (well, at least the headliner is good)

10. Taillights and headlights are discolored

11. Rear main seal leaking

12. Exhaust pipe was welded and the weld has broke

13. Needs a battery hold down for the battery (Right now a hangar is being used)

14. Driver side door actuator not working properly

15. A/C does not work, needs a new air compressor

16. Speedometer and odometer do not work

17. Need a new steering wheel

18. Needs a new cowl cover for the windshield wipers

19. Needs new molding for the doors and windows

20. Some items in the engine compartment should be repainted

Items that are not problems:

1. Engine does not knock or smoke

2. Transmission stays in gear

3. This Cobra has a smooth body and when it is painted, it will look awesome!

4. Radio and tape player work along with the Mach 460 stereo

5. Wheels look nice but need polishing

6. Tires are in good shape

7. All original right down to the air box

8. All lights work which means no short in the wiring

9. Trunk release mechanism works

What will happen over the course of the year

1. New rear main seal

2. New harmonic balancer

3. New exhaust and headers

4. Window regulator replaced

5. Door lock actuactor replaced

6. New brakes and rotors

7. AC fixed and a new compressor

8. Tune up with new wires, cap, rotor, and plugs

What will happen over the course of more than a year:

1. New interior

2. New paint

3. Lowering springs

4. New front upper control arms

5. New 3.55 gears

6. New MGW shifter

7. Engine tune and chip

8. New headlights and taillights

Possible modifications in the future:

1. Turbo power adder
