E-Mail Folder Instructions

How to put your messages in a separate folder using both Outlook 98 and Outlook Express :

"Outlook 98"

1) Create the folder you want the messages to be filed in.  I called it "SCMC".

Without any messages open, click File, New, Folder, or simply  "Ctrl-shift-E".

Specify the name of the new folder you are creating. (Example: SCMC)

Select where to place the folder (Usually under "USER" for User folders)

After you click OK, it will ask you if you want a shortcut added to the Outlook Bar.  This puts a little icon on the left under "My Shortcuts".
It's up to you if you want this or not.

2). Now that you have created the folder, you can setup your SCMC messages to automatically go there. Highlight a message sent to the mailing list that is still in your inbox.

Click "Organize" on the toolbar.

Select "Create a rule" to move messages "Sent to" SVT Cobra Mustang Club into folder "SCMC", and click "Create"

From now on, any messages sent to "SVT Cobra Mustang Club" will automatically go to the SCMC folder instead of your inbox.  You can set rules up like this for any mailing list you
are on.

"Outlook Express"

Create the folder you want the messages to be filed in.  I called it "SCMC".

Without any messages open, click File, New, Folder, or simply "Ctrl-Shift-E".

Specify the name of the new folder you are creating. (Example: SCMC)

Now set up your rule:

Select Tools, Message Rules, Mail.

Select "Where the To line contains people"

Select "Move to a specified folder"

Under Item 3, click on the underlined items to edit them.

Enter SVT Cobra Mustang Club for the "To" (Or click on it in your
address book)

Enter SCMC for the folder to move it to (Or whatever you named the
folder)

Click OK

The rule is created

From now on, any messages sent to SVT Cobra Mustang Club will
automatically go to the folder you specified instead of your inbox.

If you get stuck along the way, click help.  It comes in handy most of the
time.
