**Posting from Hudson, Ohio***

The Ford GT, 2000 R and the 2003 Cobra will ALL be clean by November....I promise. Get some vinyl decals for the GT and be done with it.

What other excuses do you have now??

So you you see, that just leaves the Excursion 4x4, my F-350 4x4 or either the hunting truck which is 4x4. This leaves me with nothing to drive in an open track event. Plus the GT is really dirty, and no one wants to clean it for me, and have not done enough mods to it to keep up with the true track dogs of SCMC  ;) :p :bounce: :rotf:

The driver mod is the most under utilized mod available!!!

I'm still working on the driver mod... I will probably never be finished.

I think if you really want to get the most FUN out of one of these events it's best to focus on your own personal progress... and just enjoy the outstanding seat time!!! There will always be someone faster, and some may have fewer mods.

I don't let that bother me... I'm where I am and I am improving each time.

I'm hoping you'll change your mind and come play...
I'm also hoping I can put my doctor off for a few months so I can do this event before my therapy has to start back up.

You only live once Larry. Your driving has improved a HUGE amount!!! I would like to encourage you to keep nibbling away at your technique and enjoy the process, leave your need to be fastest for the other car.

And just enjoy this for what it is ...

The best adrenalin return for any dollar ever spent!!!.... EVER!!!..... IMHO :D

I'm strongly considering this, as the last one was a very good experience. I don't remember a single train, and with one exception, everybody was very good at passing, or giving a pass. In my other DEs, trains are frequent, and it seems like throwing dice to see if you will get a pass. I was stuck behind a slowly driven C6 Vette for over two laps on my last DE.

Will see what my treasurer says. Right now she is saying no, but if I behave for the next couple of months, she might change her mind.

Track Day

I have a few questions. Can non-Cobra/Ford make enter? What about rain will you run?

Thanks in advance

Sure thing!!! Run what ya brung!!

We will run rain or shine - no refunds unfortunately. This is pretty much standard with any/all open track events regardless of the organization putting on the event. The track does not refund our fees if it rains.

On the bright side, I have run in the rain before and you will be amazed at how much you will learn! It forces you to be really smooth with all your inputs and makes you a better driver!

They even let in those whose supercharged cars shrunk in the laundry!! :)

Don't worry about the rain, these guys run a very good event, and with the exception of the last turn, there is little ponding even in a Texas down pour. That is how I did my first stint when I was there in April with Rick, and I'm a relative noob. :baby:

That and props to Jim and the others snake handlers controlling pit out, they actualy do a great job of finding a clear spot of traffic before giving you the go. At my last DE, you could tell the burned out dude wasn't even looking at the track, and I had to slam my brakes a couple of times because I was released into traffic and at MSRH, turn#1's track out = pit out.

97CasperCobra 07-30-2006 09:56 PM

This may be a little soon for some, but is anyone thinking of doing the TDE event Oct. 21-22 at TWS?? I may need to get some practice in before MSR.

93KingCobra 07-30-2006 10:56 PM

I would too if I was you........How long has it been since you did it last?? :D :D

I'm a total noob so forgive my ignorance. What is open passing?
TIA

Admiral 08-01-2006 02:23 PM

Who said open passing?

bluethunder 08-01-2006 02:23 PM

Any spots open for the NASA event this weekend, I thought we were going to Bristol for FFw but that changed, So Now it's time for some roundy round.

Admiral 08-01-2006 02:25 PM

I'm sure they have spots open in DE, give them a shout!

I was looking at the Time trial section of NASA Tx, I was interpreting it as some kind of AX, but on a track. I was confused about Open passing, as they claim that as a positive.

Admiral 08-02-2006 12:10 PM

Ah. Sorry, I've no info on the Time Trial program. My guess would be no restricted passing zones, but that's only a guess.

Miguel 08-02-2006 01:55 PM

Thank you. I'm guessing something like it too.

I'm just gonna have to show up and spectate when they go to MSRH.
