If I went into the 411 event with your frame of mind of "HP WINS ALL RACES", I don't think I'd even bother to enter. I'm pretty sure I am in the very bottom percentile of horsepower at the events.

So, what's that bottle doing in your trunk? :D

I don't need no stinkin' bottle to beat your LT1-dinosaurs! :p

Besides, I have side by side runs of a fastest run WITH N20, and withOUT. The difference is only a tenth or two.

Congratulations! You beat an old man in a 10-year old 2-ton 4-door.

I wonder what that ole 4-door will do after a winter of modifications?

But I'm not the one you need to worry about. Mark's gonna kick your ass this year in the 6-speed stroker car. He's got a few new tricks up his sleeve.

The smack talketh begins! :bounce:

Just so I understand this, instead of turning down to the infield to finish, taking another entire lap around the oval before turning it? Horsepower won't benefit that?

I think it would be better to do it something like this:

At end of day have everyone line up at our normal place off the track.
One at a time enter track and pass start/finish line accelerating.
Counterclockwise around the oval and pass start/finish again (warm up).
Drop hammer and one or two more times around (timed laps).

Eh... horsepower-smorsepower. I just think it would be a blast to go all out for a couple of laps on the banked oval. Be it in a viper or a van, whatever.

So your race tires vs. their street tires is no advantage either? Some people would just think somethingl ike this would be "fun", and not try to over analyze it and look at it as a punishment. Geeez, heaven forbid you not beat someone at a random autox. :baby:

sjrife 12-14-2005 11:23 AM

That's cool. I can change my tires while you guys are doing that.:)

I drive as fast as I can on the oval stuff so I can hurry up and get to the fast transitions in the infield and the turn at the center.:bounce:

yeah...like letting out a bunch of air and pouring oil on Tony's tires when he's not looking:D I just hope to be a few ticks closer on 411. But on CMP/TGP, the investment should yield higher dividends...

This keyboard racing is killing me! Can't wait to get on the track.

Brett,

At Lanier, we take a 3/4 lap to get up to speed, 2 full hot laps and then 1/2+ lap to slow down and get off the track.

At 411, if timers are setup at Drag strip side of oval, you could enter at normal gate giving 3/4 lap to get up to speed. 2 full hot laps and after crossing the start finish, you've got 3/4 of a lap to slow down and exit through normal exit gate. Any more laps and tire temps and oil cavitating/gravitating? become an issue. It's amazing how fast you can go if you hit the turns right. Jason (Ragtop03) had a sub 17 second run which is an AVERAGE speed of approx 80mph on the same size track (Lanier has LESS bank but better surface). It's intense! If you suffer from vertigo, it's not recommended :D

Mark

Yeller' 12-14-2005 01:26 PM

Cool, how many runs do you get in a day?

fasst94impala 12-14-2005 02:06 PM

As with most events, track time is directly related to the number of entries. Held true for us. With only 15 cars, it was pretty much, keep going out until you get dizzy. With 2 drivers, Jason's Vette saw a lot of action

At 411, a 2 hot lap format mentioned above will take slightly less time as an Auto-X run, plus you can get more cars through on the oval runs because there are no stinkin' cones to pickup or course workers to worry about. We also found eliminating a long lunch break (since we rent the track by the hour), was condusive to a bunch more track time.

Rick...morning AutoX - afternoon Oval action? Combined scores competition?
