This was a great event! I suck at bracket racing as usual, but I only came for the "house of hook" and the awesome traction I always get there.

I beat my personal best by 3 tenths and 3 mph, so I came away a happy camper.

but basicly didnt get a single clean run in all day, best I mustered was a lousy 12.20 at 115. and I blame the driver.

Sorry you didn't get it together and run as well as you hoped but like you said at least you didn't break!!

I don't drag race enough to be really good at it. I wish I could have made it down and seen what I could do with this new configuration however. I guess I won't be running in February either as it's to close to the Carolina Motorsports Park On Track Weekend.

cobrabitn 11-05-2006 01:19 PM

It's all in the driver....I took one pass all day. I ran a 13.1 and said that was it for me. I should have run some more but sometimes when you run an event, you just don't have the time to wait. I even cut in the front to get that one run in...(sorry guys/gals) :(

Anyway, we had a really good time! The weather was perfect and the track was hooking. That's probably why so many people broke, I guess? We towed Jason back to Gastonia to unload his car. Yes the club trailer came in handy again!

While we thank the sponsors, we also have to thank the members that really helped out a lot. So... thanks to the following people for showing their club support!

Burke Dawson - Car Show Coordinator/Merchandise Sales
Robbie Helton - Car Show Coordinator/Event Logistics
Lisa Milstead - Gate Attendant/Merchandise Sales/Event Logistics
Clarence Milstead - Gate Attendant/Event Logistics
John Pearson - Gate Attendant
Josh Unruh - Event Logistics

Next time you see these members, please tell them thanks for helping make the event smooth.

Also, Josh...please e-mail me your shirt size and mailing address so I can drop something in the mail to you, thanks! mrmach@cetlink.net

BadMoFo 11-05-2006 02:10 PM

no need to thank me, I was just helping out the club, thanks goes to all you who plan and set up these great events. that takes alot more work than picking up some trophies and posting about the event all over the web.

InfamousSVT 11-05-2006 02:52 PM

I had a great time even though I started a carnage thread :rotf:

It was fun being the first one to break, but the club trailer did come in handy. A HUGE thanks to Robbie and Burke for taking the time to pull my car home. The House of Hook wasn't very forgiving Saturday for a total of 7 cars  , I just happened to be the first :D

Big Thanks to everyone that came out to the event and hope to see everyone again at the Feb. date

mkkrs1 11-05-2006 04:25 PM

Had a good time but still didn't make that 10's goal. track was not working well with my car either but I guess that could have been a good thing :D sorry Jason. try again in feb though the rock has a few more T&T

InfamousSVT 11-05-2006 04:41 PM

Well, just got finished taking the rear-end apart and thankfully it wasn't an axle, just the center section.....

Here's a few pictures of the carnage, You can see in a few pics that the teeth on the center section are completely gone on the left side, the axles still look good along with the gears. Won't know completely for sure until I take the entire housing apart though.
I'm going with a Detroit Locker this time around and having everything welded up while I'm at it :D

Sorry to hear about the rear end Jason. It just means you'll be back next year with stronger equipment and a faster car. :D

darby 11-08-2006 04:22 AM

did anybody record my first bracket run?? i was amped that run...it was against a grey/silverish (i think) oldsmobile or something with a cowl running 10.80 to my 11.80 in my white ls1 camaro

I hope someone got that one!

yelsvt03cobra 11-08-2006 09:14 AM

Hey Darby we have several of the white Camaro and some others too on the camera. I will go through and see what I have and host it up with a link for ya probably on SCF. ;)

Chris

PS. You coming back on Nov. 25th???

darby 11-08-2006 12:57 PM

but then again i just got my hands on a wet kit with timing retard system...id really really really like to run a 10.50 before she goes.

InfamousSVT 11-09-2006 12:48 AM

Hey Chris I tried to stop by in the pits and introduce myself, but you seemed busy so I just told your daughter to tell you I said hey.
I'm the one in the broke sloBra....haha

I'll be back at the November 24th event, hope to meet you there

yelsvt03cobra 11-10-2006 12:12 AM

We would love to meet you but keeping 3 cars and drivers going sometimes runs me slap over. Nichole did tell me that a few people said to tell me hello and I saw one person that was walking away while I was setting the wife's timing but wasn't sure who it was.

Hopefully I will have more time on the 25th since we are bringing some of our older cars instead of experimenting with all new ones like this last trip. Wow I knew better than to try and get 3 new setups going at one time...

Hope to see ya on the 25th,

Chris

You know who I am from SCF but this screen name may throw ya for a loop. If you need any help with the NOS kit lemme know, been playing with nitrous for 18 years.

Looks like I missed another great event. I had every intention of making this event but we had a race had been rained out and they rescheduled it for the 4th. Here's a video of my new car. We are going a little faster than we used to. I am in the Gray mustang (we are the run after the twin turbo studebaker). It was the first 4 second pass in the car. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/1...710160369f.htm

autoxstangs 12-13-2006 12:56 AM

Just curious. Were the pictures of this event going to posted anywhere? Thanks in advance.

cobrabitn 12-18-2006 09:45 PM

Chris,

I do not have event photos but I do have winner photos from Lisa. I'll get them posted as soon as possible. I still have to edit and cut the size down on them and these 55 hour work weeks are killing me.
