Official 2006 SVT Cobra Nationals Participant List!
2 Attachment(s)
Updated
This year our 2006 SVT Cobra Nationals will be held in September on the 23rd and 24th in South Haven, MI. While I know this may be a hike for some of you, it is also the one opportunity you will have to meet more SCMC club members then you ever have before from all parts of the country. The event will have an open track school, a car show, and the "Cobra R Challenge Race" where you will get to see Cobra R's running wheel to wheel in conjunction with the AV8SS. Also, if you enter the car show or track event you may participate in the "parade laps" during lunch for free. This is a controlled atmosphere with speeds not exceeding 55 on the track. You will be in a parade with other club members and participants from the event. On hand will be the Ford Racing trailer with display cars and merchandise for sale. The show trophies will be plaques and some of the most unique type you have probably ever won at any show. I hope many of you will put this event on your calendar for this year. Caravans are coming from Charlotte/Raleigh NC, Boston MA, Wyckoff NJ, Knoxville TN, and Wannamingo MN. If you know you will 100% be attending, please post here! Official Paid Participant List: 1. We will try our hardest to bring as many buckeyes as possible up to "that state up north", with clothes pins on our noses, of course!
I am working hard to get the car ready for it's first open track event!:D I can't wait. :bounce: |
Working on the logistics of getting everything in the Cobra we need, but we will be there.
|
We will be there!
|
My forms and money have been submitted. It's on my calendar.
 |
We'll be there! :bounce:  :bounce:
We'll be sleeping in the tent-mahal, and I plan to bring my Honey/GingerMan beer for Saturday night. Lets here it from you campers! |
We'll be there.........hopefully with a 2007 (ordered 5/25/06) for the car show too!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
I am still planning on helping you with the car show Tony. Mrs. Bolt-on |
Tony, I just thought I'd add a little something:
For those who want to try driving at speed on a road course for the first time you couldn't ask for a better track than GingerMan. GingerMan Raceway offers lots of run off room when mistakes happen, it's fun and challenging even for experienced drivers, and the entire facility and staff is first rate. For those spectating, there are excellent views of almost the entire track available. |
I will be there.
|
Thanks for the update Tom! :)
List updated in post one! |
Tony,
My black Cobra is a '96 |
Marked on the calender and should have the check and reg. in the mail by the end of the month.
Chris |
I'm THERE !!!
One of my favorite tracks in the world. If you have never tracked your car, you owe it to yourself to try it at Gingerman. GREAT TRACK and wonderful, kind, experienced, good looking, intelligent intructors. < grin > Cliff (SVT_KY) and "Christine" the Farm Truck. |

OH are we still going to have that midnight moonlight bike race on the track!!!!:bounce: :woooah: :surprise: :woot: :hatparty:  :headbang: |
we hope to be staying at the track as well....if all goes well, we'll be sleeping in style!
just please don't ask which brand! :p ;) |
Lance had some cold start issues that turned out to be low compression. He's someone else's problem now. I am a poorer but wiser man, having had a crash course in diesel mechanics.
Our towing adventures will have to wait another season. |
That sucks Tom...maybe you can get another "meat wagon" next year?
List Updated! |
We'll see what's available. You never know what we'll come up with.
|
maybe for me
downloaded the info. Maybe get some more local Indiana people to caravan up there. Someone, anyone?
Eric |
Eric,
I'm going to put you down as the IN connection for other IN members to caravan up there. |
thanks
I am definately going to try to make it up there for the sat. show and meet everyone. Don't know yet if I will have the brakes and tires I need for the track, although I am going to try to put some slotted rotors on and get some fresh Nitto's.
Eric |
Hey Eric,
Do you have braided lines for the front brakes? Those are a necessity for the track. Slotted rotors are fine for bling, but definitley not necessary. Put some Performance Friction Z Rated pads from Autozone on there and you're good to go. Either way, see you there! :bounce: |
got it
Braided front brake lines, got it. Thanks. You're right about the rotors, my stock ones could probably be surfaced (only 50,000 mi.) and put on some new pads. Probably time to re-do the fluid also. Thanks for the info. One day on that track (if I do it) will probably get me a new pair of rotors anyway.

Cliff Hemstock |
While we're carping about details you can move me to the instructor list. Hey Cliff, my Cobra is stock too... still has the original paint. :rotf:
|
OK I was going to let it go but since Cliff started it and Tom continued it....:p
Jayne will be driving her '04 Corvette Z06 not my stock '97 Cobra (still has the original convertible top). Yes we are a mixed marriage Ford and Chebby.:D |
Rick, I see that you will be tent camping? Do you need to reserve a spot, or is it first come first serve. Will they run out of camping spots? Camping sounds like fun, colleen and I have not got out this year, combine the best of 2 worlds.
|
I'm not Rick, but I'll be tent camping. As far as I know, there are no reserved spots, but I've never seen them even close to running out of room. Nice shower facilities, but no campfires allowed other than the communal fire down by the pond.
Just look for the BIG Swiss Army tent (aka "Tent-Mahal), that's us! |
gingerman has plenty of camping space at their facility, I dont think they take reservations
|
Thanks guys, can't wait to meet ya'll. Now is the camping all tent, or can one bring pop-up campers? Do most of you guys tent camp (I want to be with the crowd)? Can't wait to head north! What day do most guys show up? Thur? Friday? Can one tell that I can't wait already!
|
most anything goes at gingerman! accommodations at the track range from tents to rv's to taj mahaulers!
most of us get there some time on friday....the track usually has "open track friday evenings" from 5:30pm til dark, usually around 9pm....for 50 bucks, you get track time before the saturday/sunday event! :bounce: but, check with the track to confirm this is offered this weekend.... |
Very Interesting :d
|
I will most likely be there.
My car needs lots of attention, work sucks and I'm broke. What's New :D |
Jeff, you have to come, it's the "Cobra Nationals"!
Modification plans for my "new" car have changed significantly and I won't have R tires, but I'll be there. |
I got her running last weekend however I'm still fighting a brake bias problem.
I'm getting too much rear brake but don't know why. Everything seems to be working well and I have bleed the lines twice. Getting a lot more rear brake dust and temps are higher than in the fronts. Hard braking chirps the rears before the anti-locks take over the fronts. I'm confused. I already missed the SVTOA Gingerman outing last weekend due to a family wedding. Of course my cobra was not track ready anyways. |
Can I register same day for the Car Show? I am planning on being there for the whole weekend, just want to make sure (nothing comes up last minute) |
Made my hotel reservations today. Please be reminded that the the 22nd is the cutoff date for room reservations at the 89.10 rate. After that, it goes back up to $107.10 per night.
P.S. Cobra Susie you can register the day of the show or Friday night if you plan to come up then? |
All times are GMT -4. The time now is 09:28 PM. |
