SCMC/MGW Fall Drag Day - November 4, 2006
The SCMC/MGW Fall Drag Day will be on November 4, 2006. We will have the same format as the Spring drag day with the bracket races being grouped into 3 groups. The groups will be as follows:
1. Ladies Open Race (Open to any type vehicle - non-members) 2. Men's/Women's Open Race (Open to any type vehicle - non-member) 3. Terminator King Race (Open to club members only) Only races number 2 and 3 will be eligible for any cash award. Our goal is to have a $500.00 purse for each category of 2 and 3. Actual purse depends on the number of spectators attending. Fee is $50.00 with a $15.00 discount for early registration. Registration will begin on January 1, 2006 when the registration forms go up. Concerning category 2 and 3: Category 3 is for SVT Cobra Club Members only in which members will be running against each other to see who is left standing. SCMC members who participate in the category 3 race cannot participate in the category 2 race. Club members must be driving a manual transmission SVT Cobra to compete. Participants in the category 2 race cannot participate in the category 3 race so we do not have the same car in both races taking both purses. This is set up to have a little club rivalry while still keeping the same format and giving both members and their friends an equal chance to win a little spending money. The format is as follows: Test and tune - During this time, you can grudge race some of your friends and non-friends. Afternoon Bracket Competition - See how good you are on knowing your driving skills and take home the cash to prove it. Once the competition is over, you will go back to test and tune while the awards are being figured out. There will be 12 awards and the ceremony is usually held around 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. Our rental ends at 5:00 p.m., you can stay all night till 11:00 p.m. without any extra fee for the Saturday night grudge races. We encourage all SVT Cobra owners to join our club and join in on the fun. The SCMC member that wins will be featured on our website and in our quarterly newsletter. (To join SCMC go to www.scmcstore.com and sign up on line.) If you have any questions, you can e-mail me at mrmach@cetlink.net, thanks. |

to bad it is not in Houston. We were going to go to the track in baytown texas but the Grand Nationals are there this weekend. It would be funny to see a terminator race a 7,000 rwhp funny car. :rotf:

We are exploring the idea of an event in Memphis, TN next year so some of the TX members can attend. At the Fifth Anniversary we had 2 members from TX attend. If we move it closer to y'all, some of you could make a day trip out of it.
We have the following options for this event: 2 days of open track 2 days of open track, 1 night of drag racing 2 days of open track, 1 night of drag racing, 1 day car show All of this would depend on turnout and who truly is interested in doing something like this. The target dates are May and June of 2007. The problem I see with doing events like these is that everyone wants them in their back yard otherwise they're not going. (Those that can attend but won't) If all of our events were like that then I'd be attending zero events every year as none of them happen in Rock Hill, SC. :p |

Josh,
The TX members already have a car show, a cruise, and an open track event. They just lack a drag day to be a complete chapter. Some of them do go to the track together but not where the club physically rents the track like we do in Jackson. As for ENC, we have progressed some with a car show in Lillington which is not far from Fayetteville, NC. We've checked into the local strips there and their prices are sky high and it would be too costly for the participants if the SCMC were to rent the track, now if we just did a small get together and everyone paid the track direct then that could possibly be arranged? I agree with you 100%, if you want events in your area then you have to start up an SCMC chapter and make things happen. A good example is the Buckeye Chapter...they are moving right along gaining more members every month and pretty soon they'll have a full slate of events every year! |
Can't wait to see all of you there :D
|
Tony, we'll contribute to the grand prize purse  ...can't wait for this one, we hope to have a few cars dialed in for competition :bounce:
