Buckeye 411 Trip...change of plans
I know we are still a few weeks away, but I thought I would start the next round for the 411. I know that I would like to head south at least one more time this year. My father with his new 04 mystic vert would also like to head down. Just start throwing some suggestions on which date, or both
![]() Just a reminder, the two dates are June 25th, or August 27th 1. Mike M '03 Mineral Grey Vert 2. Mark M '04 Mystichrome Vert 3. Mark P. '01 Mineral Grey Vert 4. 5. 6. 7.

I'm here and wanting to head down on another run this season - just trying to figure out which one atm. My Mom's 70th b-day party is July 26th in Georgia so I'll be there a week so vacation and more importantly funds are gonna be tight around the summer. I should have some things figured out here soon though, so stay tuned

THat is cool. As of right now, we are leaning towards the june event, August might be a little crazy.
The drivers school was sweet. I made 15 or so passed, with an instructor, who really helped. It was nice to have somebody in the car, who could point out my mistakes, and give tips for improvement.

For me that's a pretty hectic time the weekend before is an AX in Dayton, that weekend is the Grand Am weekend at Mid Ohio, the next weekend is the USGP in Indy and the weekend after that is an AX in Columbus. I'll be really busy then but I think there are 5 weekends now through the end of Oct I don't have something planned and those I'll probably go to the local dragstrip and hang with my friends that still haven't learned that cars can turn.

That is totally cool chris, I hope to make it out to cooper this weekend. Most likely it will be for the test and tune on sat. That way I can get the most seat time for the money, and most likely with fewer people. So are you running at Mid-ohio or Indy? Or just watching? I have not heard of either of those events? And you will have to let me know when you head to the drag strip. I haev never been to the drag, and would love to try it out, and it would be great to go there with a pro, and give me a few pointers!

No I'm not running at either of them, the Grand Am series is the cars that run the 24 hrs of Daytona and supporting races and the USGP is Formula 1. I'll let you know when I'm going to head to the drag strip.

I'd also be interested in attending any track events (spectating/participating, etc.). Post info here and maybe we can hook up at some of these.

Well, I don't know if you saw my post, but I had all intentions of going on sunday, until I blew a plug right out of the head on sat. So, needless to say, the cobra is down and out for a while. It is up at the dealer as we speak, to see if they will cover replacing the head, if not, I am going to try and find an engine shop to place a time sert insert aluminum sleeve to replace the threads. Hopefully it will be done before the next 411.
Chris if you know any good engine guys, let me know, I might need some help.

This is the shop that takes care of my engines. They've always done good work for me. Chris |

Mike it may be just me but I would get new heads. Fixing what you have can lead to future problems. Sleeveing and threading aluminum just sounds weak. I'm not saying it can't be done nor done correctly for a normally assperated car. But blown down, with the numbers your puttung down, well I don't think it will last long enough to say it was worth the time, effort, and money. Lets look at it from a different view. The bad head has to come off for repair anyway. Jezz it's out of the way, why not replace that and do the other side with upgraded heads. New tune and your done. With new better breathing heads vs broke, weakened, and repaired old. Just me I'm sure I've stirred the pot on this but I would want longivity as well as performance.
