That 5.0 sounds like a fun track engine! Good luck with it. I'm putting my BBK's back on this weekend after doing a r/r on the tranny. I noticed there had been some leakage at the header gasket and a couple bolts were loose so I got the Stage 8 header bolt kit. Cheap insurance.

Yeah, I'm going to need to do that too. Did you do the EGR delete on your headers? I'm terrified about running headers with an EGR anymore.

The headers were on there long before I bought the car, and EGR is connected. I don't recall anyone having that problem with BBK's or Hookers, only the Macs.

BTW, ceramic coated is the way to go. Mine were the chrome finish and it was badly pitted and surface rusting in spots. I just got done bead blasting and painting them.

Mine are ceramic coated, but there is a ton of slag (you can see and feel it) on the insides. I hope that ceramic coating will keep that stuff glued to the headers.

What would it take to delete the EGR? Can we just remove it or is it somehow monitored by big brother (OBDII)?

Honestly, I don't really know, but I'll ask Lester about it.

You can do an EGR delete. http://www.need-4-speed.com/nfs.htm has an nice billet EGR block-off plate. You will need to have the car dyno-tuned to adjust for the mod. Check with the guys at http://www.pro-dyno.com/ or leave them a post in their vendor forum here on our site http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/f...splay.php?f=78

Thanks for the links. I'll order the EGR delete tonight. I'm guessing it will fit the FR500 intake also, since the intake is "sorta" a direct bold on.

Motor is in the car. Should have it "fired up" sometime this week after hooking the computer, etc. up.

4.6 to 5.0 liter Modular with FR500 cams/valve train and FR500 intake. We are hoping to tune it this weekend. Looking for around 425-450 RWHP Naturally aspirated. I'll keep you posted.

Well, the car was fired up today. Had to put a lightning MAF on it just to get it started. It's running so rich it's having problems running, but it'll idle. I think we're going to have to do some mapping for the 03/04 cobra fuel pump/tank that we put in also. Will be tuned this weekend or first of the week and will have it's first laps at NASA CMP next weekend. I'll keep everyone posted.

Dyno tune scheduled for Thursday at 1PM with Carolina Performance in Charlotte. Gonna be pushing it for NASA weekend at CMP, but she'll be there come hell or high water. I'll just dump the oil on Thursday night and get the brake system bled. I'll keep you posted Thursday night with Dyno numbers.

Lester actually took it out on the highway today to give it a little break in time. It's running pretty bad, but he managed to keep it running. It only ran well if he slowly eased into the throttle. He said the tuner's going to have his work cut out for him. The FR500 intake runner control actuators are working fine, so I'll be picking it up Thursday AM and heading to the tuners.
