Hmm....I think maybe VIR would be just as good and you'd have a bunch more club members there. Wouldn't that be just as fun if not more?

I do have an event that i'm bringing up that sounds like a thrill. I almost made it to it last year, but wasn't able to because of a last second obligation.

Anyone ever heard of Road America? It's in Wisconson...and also a track on all of the Forza games. Well the MFBA is reserving the track again this year, and is open for registration. It's a little pricey, but wow...it's an amazing track. Back speeds easily hit 120-130s.

This years rates are as follows:

$220 - One spot, One day
$385 - One spot, Two days
$685 - One spot, Two days, Two events (only offered during April registration)
$15 - Saturday Night Dinner off site, one ticket
$5 - Daily spectator fee

two-day event time average around 300 miles or 3 1/2 hours of driving total. Speeds on the backstretch have been known to reach as high as 150

I'm pretty sure i'll be going to this event this year. Not sure if it will be one day or 2 days tho.

Anyone interested in maybe a caravan?? Just throwin it out there!

http://roadamerica.fbody.us/ <the website
As much as I want to do Road America( I will someday in the future), I am going to have to agree with Tony. As far as bang for the buck goes, nothing is going to beat VIR this year with SCMC. $450 is going to get you 3 track days, and more track time than a set of brake pads with get ya (so bring extra Mike R ). As far as instructor, track time, top speed, etc, VIR has more than I can handle, and simply can't wait until May! We already have 3-4 guys heading down together, and we would love to have you join us! The more the merrier!

never really got the whole downlow on VIR, so it's hard for me to know. Is there any one place where I can get all the info? It just always seems like it's scattered around a lot of different places.

I'm still up for just about anything and haven't made any decisions...was just throwing that in there.

looks pretty nice. Where's the registration forms, prices, dates, etc?

is there an actual thread on here about it? If so i can't find it

If there is a good group of cobras heading down there, i may jump on this instead. I'm tryin really hard to get back on the SCMC bandwagon after having been gone for a few years...its just taking me some time to re-adjust.

You should be able to find everything you need about VIR in one place:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=14843

P.S. It's $425.00 for club members. Best bang for the buck bar none!

question for ya tony. I've read about these braided hoses for the 96-98. Where do you pick these up at, and how much do they usually run? That's the only real prep i'll need as far as i understand.

also, i plan to bring my fiancee along, but it claims that this is a closed event and that only participants are aloud to be admitted. is she gonna be able to come? I'd imagine others of you are planning on bringing your significant other

mojo, you a confirmed yes on going down? Who else is a definete yes? I'm very strongly leaning towards this just on the caravan down alone, let be that there's gonna be a ton of cobras at this event!

Well, I am about 99% sure I am going. Since I only own 1 cobra, and mine is a vert, I need to secure a cage prior to attending . I know Mike Redinger in is new 04 redfire coupe is going, and Chris Anderson will be there in his CTS-V. And I am still trying to bring along a few buckeyestangs guys.

Andrew,

Almost any aftermarket place can get you some braided lines for your car. (Maximum Motorsports) If you are planning on running the vert then you're going to have to get a roll bar in it. Not sure where you read it is a closed event because we will allow spectators but your fiancee is welcome to come along with you.

P.S. You know the reason why you didn't get all of this information right?

guess i just read into it too much. It was the first point at the top of page 15 in the drivers packet...just seemed like a really stern point to me

I'll be bringin the coupe down, mostly due to miles and not needing a roll bar. Is it ONLY the front brakes that have to be braided, and not the rears?

thanx guys. has me lookin forward to summer already!

I recommend changing all of them as in time the rubber lines expand and wear out. I'll get the page 15 corrected but basically what we do is just change dates and location on the forms and don't upgrade them for spectators as we usually have our events just for participants and their friends. This is an open event and there is more to tell in the next week or so but I'm not ready to say just yet what should be happening in May/June.

I'm not going to say for sure If I'll make it as it depends on how busy I am when the time comes. Andrew, I would also suggest getting some good brake fluid in it when you do the lines, I boiled my stock fluid last year on Saturday afternoon and had to change it out that evening at the track for Sunday and believe me even just on the south course at the end of the straight I was 130-135 in the CTS-V on Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons hindering corner speed, exit acceleration, and braking zones. Some of the modifications I'm doing to the V will kill its handling on a road coarse, done more for AX events, most important being a much larger front sway bar as I had trouble last year lifting the inside rear in corners and not being able to accelerate off like I would like. For example look at picture dsc_0047 on this page:

http://homepage.mac.com/psycho43142/PhotoAlbum8.html

That picture was taken with the car on Hoosier A6 AX tires in the rain.

sounds like i'll be gettin all 4 lines changed within the next month or so. I'll be sure to flush the brake fluid completely and getting some high temp stuff in there too.

When I bought this cobra, it cames with some new tires on it that i don't care for, so i do believe i'll be killin 2 birds with one stone here Also has hawk pads on it, and they are SOO noisy for DD. I look forward to burnin those off too lol.

Question for any SN95 owners. My vert oil temp usually hangs below the R usually, and in the coupe, it's always above the R, and if i sit in a drive-through for a while waiting on food or something, it'll easily be almost past the M. Should i be concerned about this? I mean, here we are in 20 degree weather and it seems to be runnin warm. Once it's 70-80ish out, i'd imagine there could be problems. Thoughts?

Only thing I could quickly suggest is to flush and change the fluid on your new cobra. Probablly a good idea anyway if you don't know how long the existing fluid's been in there and certainly you want to do it prior to a track weekend.

Congrats on the new ride by the way.. I live in Pittsburgh now and not sure about heading to vir or not, but I believe I'm going to take some time off and hot Carolina next month for my first track event as I want to get my car tuned also.
