Ooops sorry Tom. I forgot you had another Snake in the grass..um, I mean garage.

Also, Jack Barbee plans on coming down to take some pictures. I thought maybe I'd get a CAI kit and install it down there? How hard would it be to get an exhaust system to put on too? I want one that is quiet at idle and highway cruising but loud as crap when you hit the pedal. It also has to give me extra ponies too. My plan is to have an OR H-pipe installed in the future, too.

John Pearson said he may dyno his Lightning if his work schedule will allow it??

Looks like the list is building.

List so far:

Greg Peppers - 2003 Torch Red Cobra
Mark Outzs - 2003 Silver Cobra
Tony Sorrentino - 2004 Mystichrome Cobra
Tom Crews - 1998 Laser Red Cobra
John Pearson - 1995 Black Lightning?
Jack Barbee - 2004 Torch Red Cobra
Josh Unruh - 1999 Black Cobra?

I've got a friend down here with an '03 Cobra that has the FR500 catback on his and it's pretty stock sounding at idle and he said (I haven't heard it) it's decently loud at WOT. An offroad X or H pipe itself would give you some decent gains but will increase the volume all the time.

A CAI would be something you could do before/after dyno pulls....an exhaust would be a totally different story They do installs there.....you could always dyno, pull around to the install bays and have them install your pipe and then pull back around and get back in line for your second pull

That's what I was saying earlier. I heard they were closed or closing, so I was surprised when you said they were still open.

Tony, buy their dyno and install it at your house for the club.

Hahahah!

They were open until July 10th. I was there the weekend before and made the arrangements in person for the dyno day. Not sure if they were "hopeful" to still be open in August or not......

They don't own the dyno....they were in the process of buying it from an aquaintence of mine so I'm not sure what is going to happen to it. They had been making payments but stopped a while back.

According to some of the employees the building was bought by someone else and ATS is supposedly opening at another location (when/where/etc...who knows??).

Tom,

It looks like we need to have it in Charlotte which I was trying to avoid to save you all from coming up since we rarely ever go down that way. We discussed the options yesterday, do you want me to see if we can get the one in Charlotte or Mooresville?

Tony

<--- *chanting* Moorseville... Moorseville... Moorseville

Tony if it's the same one I'm thinking about... and that would be Modular Madness, I happen to know the owner personally and the tech in the garage as well. He uses a Mustang Dynometer, which reads differently than a Dynojet... but I think is a better one to tune with as it is a loaded dyno.

I'll go to Charlotte as well... but if it is the one I'm talking about then I'd like to see us go there to spin the rollers

The replacement for displacement has "Whipple" cast into it.

Chuck Norris built my Cobra. It runs off the tears of small children and makes 10,000 horsepower. He calls it his "street version."

Both Dynojet and the Mustang dyno are capable of load-bearing.....

They just measure/calculate differently. I also think a lot of people would be disappointed in the readings a Mustang dyno provides since they typically run lower than a dynojet.

Also, no tuning will be done during a dyno-day so that's not a big concern.

I vote for a dyno-jet dyno, Charlotte will be my choice. I like to keep all my numbers based off the same system (plus being able to use the runviewer to view my dyno files).

Huh... I didn't realize a dynojet would do this... learn something new everyday

I realize that... but Don has the correction factor to give dynojet readings. If that's where we wound up at, I could tell you how dead-on it is from my last time on a dynojet, which was a little over a week ago. From what I've seen in the past it's pretty dang close... within 5 hp of each other.

I realize this as well... but it doesn't mean that someone couldn't on that day if they really wanted to

Like I said above... either one is fine by me so I'll go no matter if it's in Charlotte or not. I'd like to see us have it in Moorseville but ultimately it's up to you and Tony. I should be there no matter what.

I had a friend just dyno at ATS too (July 3rd) and that was when I made the appointment. July 10th they shut down. Their doors are locked and the phone number has..... "We're sorry, the number you tried to reach has been disconnected". Their website has been down for about a week longer.

That's pretty much all I've heard other than rumors which I won't spread.
