I've had many exhaust systems over the years, but Bassani has been my favorite by far. The good thing about it is the whole system is modular. You can add an X-pipe later if you want, and that comes with extra pipes so you can run without cats if you want. In the future if you decide you want some headers, the Bassani Mid-lengths are some of the easiest to install.

SLP loudmouth is on the car. It took me longer to install than it did to put the same system on the 01 due to vehicle height. My heavy jack would not fit under the car without a little help from the light weight aluminum jack on the side. The tone is deeper on the 04 with or without boost than the 01. I am pleased. The 04 is no longer a sleeping giant but a screaming demon!

SLP is like many other exhaust companies, they offer a complete set, long tube headers, x pipe (high flow cats, or no cats). I bught the first SLP on the basis of the muffler part of the system. Since I was happy with the first one on the 01, I guess that made me a repeat customer. I am familiar with Borla and Bassani, Hooker, JBH, etc.... but since I bought SLP for the first car, I was hooked. Headers and or X pipe will have to come later. For now, I have completed the mods I wanted without voiding my basic warrenty.

It should if the offset of the x-pipe retains the stock offset of the H-pipe. You could always inquire at SLP or Bassani. Be cautious though, some kits have their own offsets which are intended for use with their own products. I had a friend who owns a 5.0L mustang who mixed and matched some exhaust parts only to find they did not match properly. If the x pipe is a direct drop in replacement OEM fit for use with stock exhaust it should be compatible with the SLP. Asking the manufacturer would be the better solution. www.slponline.com send them an e-mail and see what happens. They should respond within a day or two.

I think you really need to look into the borla stinger catback. This piece sounds awesome even with the stock H-pipe. Definately a mean sound. The fit and finish is second to none, and they make great power. The 4 inch watermelon shooter tips look awesome too. If you like it really loud (great tone as well), add the prochamber midpipe with no cats. It can be had for about $200.

NFP, when i went to the dyno to get base numbers - I had my stingers in the trunk to be swapped on & the car re-checked. 28rwhp I kid you not. All else the same & had em on & back on the rollers inside 40 minutes... The sound, even with stock H is second to none. I now have a Bassani metallic-strat catted x-pipe & it's just crazy. I'll swap off the cats this weekend while at the dyno & tell ya what it's worth. In MM&FF, they did an article on these metallic-strat cats on an 01 Cobra (i think) and at the peak difference - the cats were only 9rwhp constriction versus the flow tubes.

You can't go wrong with Borla Stingers, for sure.

Hmmm, yet another combo to think about. Doesn't really surprise me about the pick-up of 28 rwhp. The stock exhaust is so restrictive sometimes I am amazed it doesn't choke the engine out . I honestly have no idea what combo to go with, so many choices but keep'em coming guys.
