So guess what, because it had that speedometer in it he went around bragging about how he had a 120+ mph car even though it had less hp than Ford Escorts of that era. Yeah right.

As I recall he coundn't even get the front wheels to spin when he revved it up and popped the clutch.

When I had my 2000 Black GT, everyone wanted to race me at every stop light. Now that I got my 03 cobra, I get the trucks and imports wanting to race. I don't bother, because most of them just want a show, because they do know that the cobra is fast. I wish I could hold up a sign, (You pay, will Play).

I mostly worry about those fools not knowing when to call it quits. You beat them fair and square and when you slow down they blow by you. I have had those POS rice burners ride my bumper after a good spanking. They get real agressive as if they are trying to run you off the road. When they lose they get pissed. I am not sure why. The truth is there is ALWAYS a faster car out there than the one you are driving.
(Just now, with the 03', there are fewer )

I don't mind if being egged on by some nice looking women in the other car. I consider that a welcomed occurance. Once I a while I have stirred up some interesting drivers. Most of the time, it is one of those kids who just got their license and an inport pedal car. That reminds me of a time driving along side a Corvette. The driver was much older than I was and he looked at me like some dumb kid. I was not even planning on making any moves, just driving. I am sure there was tension while waiting for the light to turn green. That was the slowest launch from a traffic light ever. I finnaly passed him diong 25mph you would not believe the amount of traffic that backed up behind us. The posted speed limit was 45. I guess he did not want to play, but he was pushing 50 before the light stopped us. I had the black 01 at the time.

I don't let my ego get in the way of my driving. The Cobra is fun to drive at any speed.

It does seem like a lot of people want to try you. I also don't think most people know what's in the Cobra. I had a WRX STI pull up along side of me on the highway. I pushed it back into 3rd gear and floored it. Instantly I jumped about 2 car lengths in front of him. After about 4 seconds I was 5 or 6 cars in front of him and the Borla exhaust was roaring. No contest! I let off of it and granny shifted up to 6th gear. The Scooparu kept it floored and eventually flew by. Afterwards I think the guy still thought he had the quickest car on the road.

You gotta love what these cars can do! I plan on some mods to increaase the HP this spring, but even stock these cars are a lot of fun.

be careful abou that STI WRX. his power/weight is the same or maybe a bit better than your's. A competant driver will be an even match.

I haven't seen a stock STI hang with a stock 03 Cobra on the highway yet....and the STI's power to weight is about equal to an 99/01 Cobra.

Besides the car has "Subaru" written on it. LOL

I guess if I was driving one I would want it to be fast so no one would see me.

All joking aside, I have too many bad memories from a Subaru my friend owned in the early 80s. That car was a POS. I think they are better now but I will never find out.

I'm deff not slammin the STI's I think they are awesome cars...just stating a fact thats all.

Stop light to stop light they are tough to beat, but it can be done. 1/4 mi. is a different story.....when I was stock I was running 12.50's most local STI's were running 13.50's on average, but I do know some guys to get a low 13 out of them.

The WRX's are great autox cars....get someone behind the wheel that can drive one and everybody else can go home.....

They are great in the snow too.

I know they deserve some respect and I don't mean to piss off the people that like them, it is simply not my idea of a sports car or muscle car.

It does not help that there is a complete goober at my office that thinks Subarus are God's gift to the driver. I constantly listen to him tell people how he and his bodies laugh at the Corvette owners. I don't care if the STI is faster than a standard C5 there is no comparison between those cars IMHO.

We all went to a function after work and I was the lead car with him following in his grocery getting, kid carrying Subaru Forester. When we got there he said he was probably the only one who could keep up with me.
WTF... That goob couldn't keep up with a rocket strapped to the top of his car. That kind of lack of respect really gets me torqued.

ok.... I feel better LOL

I have a friend with a STI. Back when i had my Lightning from a stop he would jump out on me. But from a rolling start it was no contest. For some reason he hasnt tried the Cobra yet? He has rode in both so he must know allready.

I used to let people like that bother me, but then I realized they just had to convince themselves that they thought they were as fast as I...if they really got froggy, i'd just have to show them that they were wrong...

I've had alot of mixed opions, most people around my parts think that all cobra's are supercharged so they automtically think mine is (um.. its not), with the import kids, ive been there and done that, i had a Integra Type R (#1216) was a great car for autocross car, 1/4 mile..... no!!!!! but all you have to do is throw up the word cash and most of them back down, seeing as they already spent ther allowance on neon's....I had a guy leave a note on my car that he wanted to race???? i was like wow a note Thats why i love mustang owners we rather hang out and beat everyone else then take out each other, its like beating your brother up, you can do it but no one else can get away with it
