Houston, Texas If you look at it, it's about as Central you can get! Just a little south for North America, and a little north for South America.

+1 I've been looking for a good reason to come back to Houston after moving here 6 years ago!

We won't be able to please everyone unfortunately. This is just reality. I guess the best thing to do is pick a location that will make the majority of the members happy. I am definately interested in going to the 10th event. I'm all about it, however, I won't go all the way to kansas. I though Pigeon Forge was an awesome location with tons of things to do. (Deals gap, car show, auto x and drag strip, white water rafting, and a lot of bars!)

Mid-Ohio - great road course...

Mansfield Motorsports Park a few miles away has brand new drag strip and an oval!

Cleveland and Columbus 1 hour away in opposite directions.

Just a biased idea from the Buckeye SCMCer's.

Some thoughts.

Memphis in the summertime is hideous. The ribs are great and the music is great, but its not someplace i would want to be playing with a car in the July or August.

How many showed up at Miller for the SAAC/SVTOA? I thought I saw that there were 41 open track registrants. Seems there were four times that many at Sebring for Camp Steeda.

Picking a place that is fair because its a long haul for everyone usually means a low turnout. I think its better to pick a place that is going to attract the biggest crowd and hope those that have the longer run will think its worth the extra effort to do it.

I suggest Fontana, Willow Springs or Las Vegas out west. VIR, Watkins Glen or Sebring in the east.

Would you rather be fair and have 100 cars show or unfair and get 500?

food for thought

Alomost sounds like we need a new poll or do over. I really have to agree with the central location, I did vote for vir as many others they would like to change the meeting place. But it needs to be big.

I'm not so sure on a true central location as you will never get everyone to come out to the event due to financial reasons or family obligations.

I have to agree with CobraR05 which is which would you rather have 100 members at the event or 500?

Although the numbers may be more like 40 or 80 because at our fifth Anniversary, we didn't have 100 cars in the show, we had 96. Our Parkway event is/was larger than the 5th and that's truly a shame that we didn't have more people come out to the 5th. That event had everything going for it, white water rafting, cruising, drag day, car show, it did not have an open track event but had a 411 AX instead. We had an excellent speaker from Ford there along with Ford video footage, unique cars there from Ford, and FOMOCO really invested time and money in our event. I don't mean for it to sound like doom and gloom because I think the people that attended had a really good time, I just wish we could have shared that same time with more of the membership. (I really miss Ford SVT a lot, they were really a special group of people who were so proud of the vehicles they put out on the line.)

I hope that our 10th will be more meaningful to our members and that the turnout will be greater. I don't foresee it being in the center of the country but somewhere between VA and western, TN.

IF, IF, we could get FULL COURSE at VIR, I wonder how many people would commit? See, the problem here is, I am sure VIR would need XXX paid people for full course, not to mention that we, the club, have to pay for the full cost, no matter how many people show up.

Blue Ridge Parkway is very close for cruising, I am sure there is a drag strip we could find close. South Boston?

Just throwing in fuel for the fire.

if you were to do VIR, I know a real good cruise to the BRP . Also, with a nice day outing, there is the Natural Bridge in VA, lots of curvy roads to get there
