Thanks Greg! I won't be putting down the power that you are, but if I can break 400rwhp+ on a N/A motor, I'll be happy.

Aight, picked up the car from Les at 11 this morning and went straight to the dyno. The new motor has but a few miles on it, so there's still a way to go with sealing the rings, etc. Ended up having to put an SCT Big Air 2400 mass air on it, and a makeshift pieced together intake tube for it. We had to piece a bunch of things together because the MM strut tower brace doesn't allow for big intake tubes. Only 355 rwhp on first pull with STOCK intake plumbing and stock MAF (we could see it running out of air at 6000 rpms). With that, we changed to the "pieced together" intake and Big MAF (30HP increase from that alone). As the day went on the car got stronger as it started to break in a little. The FR500 intake LOVES air, and needs plenty of it.

Bottom line:

For now it's at 406 rwhp @ 7200 RPMS
359 lbs Tq from 2800 on (VERY flat torque curve)

I need more air, so I'm going to probably have a custom strut tower brace made so I can get a bigger intake tube under there. We also need another throttle body, as this one isn't cutting it. I'm very happy with making it in the 400's N/A. I'm sure with this weekend of NASA @ CMP it'll be broken in good after a few sessions on track. I'm going back for another tune in August when we make those other changes. It's got a very mild/safe break in tune to get me for a while. A/F 13.5 and timing at 26 degrees overall I think it was.

Btw.....a few technical notes for anyone that might want to get an FR500 intake.

I have the short runners triggered to close at 2500 RPM's (goes to long runners). Then short runners are triggered to open at 4800 RPM until redline of 7500 (and yes, we did run it to 7500) . That setup seems to be the best for most guys running the FR500 as the long runners on the intake stop producing hp about about 5000 rpm's. I use an MSD window switch to control the runner actuators.

I'll be seeing some of you this weekend. For those of you that won't be there, have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Craig

Sounds like you've got the makens of a real nice N/A motor Craig. Take it easy on her this weekend and break her in right. That way you won't be paying for another mistress soon!

Nice numbers Craig, and I'm sure you'll find some more hp in the fall. Have fun and be safe!

Thanks,
I was hesitant about running her hard on the dyno, but I didn't have much of a choice. I'm going to do a few easy sessions at first this weekend, but I'm not sure if it'll change much of what I've already done. We ran it to 7500 rpm's all day yesterday, but like many engine builders say..."drive it like you stole it"!

Gonna change the oil and filter out today to see how things look.

Thanks again!

Craig
