I'm in the Marines. So is he. I don't know the guy personally, he works in a different squadron. I'm going to be consulting a lawyer to see what my options are for my girlfriends medical treatment. I'm not gonna try to clean him out, I just want him to pay for her medical bill. The military is gonna screw him pretty good i'm sure of it.

and I never did like jeep Cherokee's and now I really don't... they almost always take a roll when they crash -- and their drivers usually drive as if they are driving a performance vehicle..... surprise --- it isn't!!!! it isn't even a truck..... not underneath it isn't....

I don't think they are that bad. I mean, safety wise, it seemed alright. Yeah, it rolled over, but it rolled into a draining ditch, so I bet just about every vehicle in that situation would have rolled over. I'm sure a vette or something wouldn't have, but it would'a been messed up for sure. I think the jeep held together nicely protecting it's occupants. But, people usually drive them as performance vehicles, but this guy wasn't, he just doesn't remember what he learned in kindergarden "look both ways, hold hands, and cross the street quickly, but don't run." Man! Sorry I didn't see this sooner. That sucks. Glad you're okay, and I'm also glad that she's not messed up too bad. I love your car to death. Josh

Don't let the dog drive
|
Life is a gamble no matter what. Uninsured motorists also include people who loose there license from DUI's that still drive other cars belonging to other people. I knew of one but he is now in jail (again). At least one more driving hazard is off the road. This stroy reminds me of the incident I had a few years back while driving to my parents one fine day before Christmas. Some young driver decided that he could pull out to make a left turn after a car traveling in the opposite direction I was going in honked their horn to let him out. He peeled out under hard acceleration without looking where he was going finding himself being crushed by a Ford Explorer. I am greatful the other driver was unharmed since I litterally wound up driving over the top of the front of his car on impact. I was angry at most, but was thankful that nobody was killed. I wound up talking to his entire family since they were all at the church where the accident occured.
I am pleased to hear that both you and your girlfriend survived the accident without any long term issues other than having to rebuild the car. I think the problem with most drivers is that they get impatient but mostly lack of awareness and poor judgement is the main cause. There are some people out there driving today that should not have the priveledge to do so. Some of them should be banned from getting in a motorvehicle other than masstransit. There are even some drivers that fear the task of driving alltogether which can make them a bit unpredictable at times. Always buckle-up it could save your life especially if the air bags do not deploy. I have seen some scary accidents during my 700k miles of driving. The worst one I ever saw was of a family down in Orlando Florida where the father in the family was looking down at the two bodies covered under a blanket laying in a thick pool of fluid that did not come from the vehicle after it rolled over. That nearly put me into a state of shock where I had to pull off the side of the highway at a rest stop for a bit. My wife (now an ex) and I were in a bit of tears after seeing that. Sorry for that bit of reality which is best ignored. ![]() |
