tuners

I just looked at the micro max tuner made by superchips for 425 dollars, do u guys think thats a desent price. Also does having a tuner change my spedometer readings or will it atomatically update it? Since I only have a suv flowmaster with 3 inch tips is it worth buying or should I get it and upgrade to hi flow cats etc...?

I would get the x calibrator from superchips. That is the new tuner. I have the max tuner and it is fine. I think I paid $375, but the new one allows you to do more things such as datalogging and the tuner can email you new tunes if needed. The speedometer will be fine. The only time this is a factor is if you change tire sizes or gears. Don't know about the shifters.

MGW shifters are the best shifters made the feel is so smooth and exact and you will not miss third gear anymore. I had one in my 97 and I will buy one for my 03 and cannot wait till I get it. Buy one and you will not be disappointed.

Post #1 - What Big T said. I would add, however, that if you purchase one through a tuning vendor you may get a custom tune with it. You'll never be able to do what the tuning software allows with just the handheld device. My choice of tuners is Rick Erdman. If you can't get to his shop in Anderson, SC he can tune you at yours. (864)332-0955. Now, if you're only concern is the speedo being off & don't want to get a handheld just yet, Dallas Mustang makes/markets the SpeedCal which does just that. Calibrates your speedo to the tires you've just mounted out back.

Post #2 - It is a night/day comparison between OEM & aftermarket. The MGW shifter is the quietest of them all & boasts the shortest shift of them all. Go with a Steeda Tri-Ax if you want the M22 rockcrusher sound... I have both & the MWG is in Ginger right now. Oh, you won't punch your dash with an aftermarket shifter either

I have the max micro tuner and I am very pleased with it. It's the person who puts the tune on the tuner more that what device you have. I just think the newer version is cool because you can get tunes via e-mail. Any time I want to change anything I have to mail my micro tuner off. You could also take that device to any tuner who uses superchips and they can adjust your car's settings if you have any changes that are needed. It is always a good idea to run your car on a dyno after you add the tune just to make sure the air/fuel ratio is OK. Although I haven't done it yet and I've had mine for 2 years. If you got the tuner from a reputable place you should be pretty safe. Yes you do keep the stock tune saved on the tuner and can return the tune back to stock if you need to. I suggest going back to stock anytime you go to the dealer because they may add updates to your car without telling you and then the tuner will no longer work on your car. Hope this helps.
