My First Cobra....the Story

Hey everyone, got my first 04 Cobra about 2 weeks ago, been lurking here and decided to give a shout-out. I'm 30 yrs old, like to go on walks on the beaches, lol, sorry had to...

I've always been into performance cars, for 15+ years, but never owned a Ford product. Well, I own a Dyno-shop here in Tulsa, OK, and this SVT just happens to be my SCT Tuner's car that I bought. His company is Archangel Motorsports and he is a Ford Specialist, builds race motors etc, and also has the SCT Custom Tuning Flashers/Software to tune any Ford vehicle. He bought this car new, but barely ever drove it. It's a 2004 Cobra Competition Orange, with a KenneBell 2.2L, Kooks Longtube Headers, Magnaflow CB, H-Pipe, 60lb Inj, and a few others (TB, MAF, etc). If you are in the Tulsa/OKC area, this is the #1 guy I recommend for doing anything mechanical or tuning. He is a Mechanical Engineer, and is extremely smart, and a great guy (not to mention very, very good quality work & great attention to detail).

So, I've seen this car on my dyno since it was bone stock with 800 miles on it. I’ve also seen it go through it's stages with exhaust, then the KB, different pulleys etc, so I knew this car "on the dyno" pretty well.

-Anyways, he is selling it because he bought an '06 GT. Since he is an installer, and dealer for KB, he wanted to get one on a new GT quick and see what he could modify it to (just to stay up with technology since that is his business), so he needed to sell his '04. And, he made me a heck of a deal, and really wants me to get out of my import car. He’d always joked to people that I was going to be buying his Cobra when he sold it in the future, and lo and behold. I always joked back saying Rrriiiggghhhttt. When he decided to sell it, he told me to drive it for the weekend and tell him if I was interested on Monday… well, you know the rest of the story, hehe. And, I love the 03-04 Cobras the most. I have dyno’ed over 20+ of this model Cobra alone, and I can honestly say they are the most consistent motors I have seen for the kind of power they make. I have a 300ZX TwinTurbo making 410hp and 470tq that now has to go, hehe. I love it, but it doesn’t have the potential the Cobra does, nor the instant Torque; -nor does it have that sound!!

-When he brought me the Cobra it had 5,800 miles on it. He never drove it again, hehe! It was sold 2 days later to me, hehe.
-He installed the KB at about 3500 miles, so it’s only had about 2k miles with the KB on it. We tried to run it at 20psi once for a SVT Dyno-Day (he wanted to see if it would do 600+rwhp w/o the BAP, but without it we had to abort the dyno at 5200rpm (going above 12:0). It can’t be tuned out, it’s a mechanical issue, so as soon as the KB BAP is installed, he can finish tuning the car. But, it’s never been run with more than 18psi on the street. This car has also NEVER been to the track. Sounds crazy I know, but it’s true. I know the guy personally, and he was always going to put in half-shafts before taking it, and never installed them, so he never went. Also the BAP was never installed, so he never took it over 6k rpm (going above a 12:0 with no BAP). It did 597rwhp and 547rwtq at 18psi with a 93 octane tune in 90 degree weather. There is more to be had, but I have to get that BAP installed first. So I am limited to 6k rpm as well until that is done. I’d post up some pics, but there’s not much to see yet, other than a Bone Stock looking 04 Orange Cobra, with a few goodies under the hood. Anyways, I’m glad to be part of the family, and will be a regular poster here as soon as I get my 300ZX TT sold!

-Chris

Why does it default to black? I went searching in my UserCP to see if there was a place I could change the default text color but couldn't find it. So I changed the site "theme" to baby blue so I could at least read it. Someone know where to go to change this option? Thx!!

Thanks

Yes, I love it more every-day. I have put 700 miles on it in 11 days now I'm just enjoying it, and getting used to it. My wife drove it today for about 40 miles, and is in love with it too. She said "This is such a cool car." She also says she wants to drive it to work tomorrow
Not going to happen for a little while longer sweety, hehe
My wife can drive a stick better than 99% of em out there though, so I trust her with the car
Love that 6th gear too, really good for quieting the car on the highway
These cars are great!
I've had 10 sports cars so far, not one touches this car

Thanks Everyone for the kind words

I love the car. I'm not driving the Cobra much now until I sell the other car. I took pics of my Z (that I am selling) and some of the Cobra together in the driveway today. Hopefully this week I will have a buyer for the Z Car, otherwise I got 2 payments coming soon
My wife told me she needed to drive my Cobra 1 day this week to do one of her Xmas presents (my wife and I do a wierd after Xmas, Xmas thing). I was kind-of worried, until she showed up that night with 5 % window tint on it! Really looks good! Gotta love my wife Oh, and the car too. It got it's first full wax & detail today. It's a good way for me to get in touch with my car

I'll post some pics tonight in my members-photo section, from the photos I took today of her
