? on off road pipe

I bought a 98 Gt about 6 weeks ago and started adding mods. my wife asked if you are trying to get more power like a Cobra, just get one so I traded the GT in on the 03 Cobra. and I pulled off the new exhaust on the GT and put the stock system back on. My Question is, the Mac prochamber I had will also fit the 03 but I see most of those using O/R pipes are using X pipes are they better than the Mac Prochamber H pipe?

Power gains are gonna be the same whichever one you use. Ive had both a x-pipe and now a h-pipe and actually prefer the sound of the H-pipe better. It's not quite as raspy . To save you some time and a little money, i'd just go with the H-pipe you have first, then see if you dont like it, switch it out.

we have done our customers 03 cobras with the Prochamber and the MAC 3" CB it sounded awesome..very loud but had a very nice tonal quality...the problem with this set up on an 03 Cobra is that they like restriction to build boost so you may see a bit of a boost loss if you open it up too much...best results we have seen performance wise is with a catted mid pipe.. it really depends on what you are looking for from the mods you do...some people are not concerned about boost loss because they like the way the exhaust sounds.

What catted pipe are you using? I am looking for power, but as Quite as I can be.The Cobra now has 2 chamber Flowmasters welded in and I do like how Quiet it is, I would use the Mac prochamber if it meant good increases in power(10-15HP)
How much mods can you do using the stock catted pipe with the welded in flowmasters?

I know this wasnt directed towards me, but you can do as many mods as you like with the stock h-pipe, you'll just find better results once you let the motor breath a little better

there is a good variety of mid pipes to chose from..it will depend on your preference.. unfortunately they are all loud.. the 03 cobra dont like Flowies that well so if you are looking for performance from the exhaust system you will need an unchambered muffler system.. again there are alot to chose from but they are all rather loud... Borla has a regular 03 Cobra system that is not loud but it is not as good performance wise as all the others and they are all loud.

the stock H pipe flows very well. what you are doing now is a basis for what you want to achieve with the car in the long run so what are your future plans for the car? racing? spirited street car that will never go to the track etc? once you determine that it will be easier for me to help you with your choices..

I plan on using the Cobra at the track maybe every 6-8 weeks, it is only a weekend toy and not a DD. I am looking to get it into the mid 11's 1/4 mile ET
I just always wanted a street car that would run that, but would not be a pain.

it sounds like you are looking for performance with good driveability..I would suggest a Borla Stinger,Bassani or Magnaflow CB with a Bassani,SLP or BBK catted X pipe..any of these combos will give you great performance but they are all loud...if you keep the stock H with any of the CBs they will be somewhat quieter with still good performance... if you want to keep the Flowies any of the above pipes will work well.. MRT also makes a catted H pipe..these sytems are stainless steel so they are pricey so for that reason it is best to find cars with different combos and listen to see which sound you like best. exhaust is such a personal choice..what I like or someone else likes you may not like..it is best to try to hear them in person so you can decide...asking opinions will confuse you as you will get conflicting opinions. .
