bra for front of car

How do you guys feel about bras for the bumpers on cobras?
I have a few chip spots that it would cover up, but I am not sure how it would look. Do any of the SCMC vendors offer these for sale so I could get them at a discount? I know that they make a 1 piece and a 2 piece. Which one would be better? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I would have to say, neither. Bras are bad news for the car. They rub the paint, bad. If I were you, I would look into getting the front end repainted, and then, look into one of the clear bras. http://www.ultrashieldofcharlotte.com/ This is a great product, and is virtually invisible. While it does cost a bit of money, in the long run, I think it would be best.

I agree with Mike! It will take the clear off your paint and start to rub into the paint, especially if you do not have them on super tight where they don't move any.

The vinyl covers are typically more trouble than they are worth. They are only good for summer use since they get stiff in the cold weather, plus you are supposed to remove it when the car gets wet. My ex-wife had one for her Accura Integra and it was not an easy task to install. If you have to drive your cobra in the winter a bra probably will not help much since the rest of the vehicle will be battered with the elements they dump on the streets for icy conditions. Also, if you live in an area that gets hammered with road salt, that stuff will find its way everywhere onto the car when the roads are wet. I would probably do what others have already suggested, repaint the bad areas, wait the recommended time for the paint to cure before installing one of the clear products.

Most of the chips I get if any on my Cobra (which included the black 01 I had) were on the side scoops or some tiny chips in the windshield. One thing that is rare for me is to drive the Cobra to work in the winter months since the roads are littered with small stones and do not wish to have the hood stone washed if driving behind a tractor trailer truck.

Car is only driven on nice days all year. I have an '85 ranger that I drive back and forth to work. Only put 18,000 miles on it in the 6 years that I have had it, the paint chips were already there. It had 66K on it when I bought it so it was a daily driver.

If you like to go to car shows with your car, one way to hide the chips is to leave the hood up and show off the engine. I would consider having the hood repainted, and if the underside of the hood is not painted completely (i.e. under the hood blanket) you can get that painted too. If it involves the bumper cover you now have options if you want to keep it stock or modified with aftermarket before you end up painting. Most car bra's are two piece if it involves part of the hood. I would at least find out what the cost of repainting the parts and compare that to the cost of the bra. Expect about three years of use from the bra since they tend to deteriorate over time (straps that hold it in place typically go first before the cover).
