1994 Cobra GT ... Getting to know her.

I just purchased a 1994 Stang GT Cobra. White, Blue Stripes, 5 speed, Tan leather interior. Mach stereo system ect.
I have been looking stock packages that could have came with the car but I do not know alot about it yet. It came with no manuals or documentation as to wether there has been any mods. There are a few questions I have ...

1. What was the stock brake set ups?

2. What is the recommended octane for these engines?

3. There is a reset button (I assume this is the fuel pump reset) down by the fuse box on the wall, drivers side along with a toggle switch. Any ideas as to what this could be for?

I will post pics when I get home ... not sure what is stock and what is not ...

Congrats on the new purchase & welcome to the site.
The stock brakes are 13" rotors up front with PBR 2 piston calipers with the work "COBRA" on it. The rear is a 11.65 in vented rotor with same as GT calipers.
Recomended octane is 91+.
The reset button could be from the alarm? Don't know about the toggle? The reset for the fuel pump is in the trunk on the drivers side behind the panel (hole in the panel to push reset).

We're glad you joined our forums.

But I am a little curious as to what you mean by a "Cobra GT"?

Sorry,
Wrong terminology. Mustang Cobra.

As for the alarm ... I expect this was a feature? There is also a red LED light on the dash next to the rear defrost button. I do not see anything else under hood ect. that resembles an alarm. Hmm ...

But thanks for the insight on the brakes. As far as the MACH (940?) Stereo system ... Was it originally a Sony stereo/cd player? Mine is ... Wondering if it has been replaced somewhere down the line.

Also ... I was told when I bought it that the ABS and Air Bag sensors were bad and needed replaced. (Lights on dash stay on) I went to my local Ford dealer and they informed me the airbag sensors have been discontinued and they have only one abs sensor. (69.00) Where can I get these hard to find parts as I discover more bugs with the car.

Also ... My speedometer stops working sometimes and other times it works just fine. I do not notice any problems with any other gauges. Is this a known problem with these cars or just mark it up to wear and tear?

Might be the speedo gear under the tranny housing...very inexpensive and easy to replace.

Could it be the speed sensor? I looked and it looks like it is leaky ... Just 17 bucks at local store .. I will try that ... SuperG if that is not what you were talking about let me know. But since it is leaking I will replace anyway ... Thanks.
