SCMC in IL

Hi SCMC members!,

My name is Bill Drzal. My wife Emmy Lou and I are the IL State Event Coordinators for the SVT Cobra Mustang Club (SCMC). I first need to apologize to you for not being better coordinator this year. My intent was to sent you a follow up event schedule e-mail late May in response to the e-mail I sent you early in May. The last several weeks in May got very busy in our household due to the College graduation of our youngest daughter and the oldest daughter graduated her Masters program. I was going to sent out the event schedule e-mail the first week of June. My mother took ill and was taken to the hospital the first days of June. My mother was allowed to return to her home and passed away on Father's Day. My mother was 87 years years old and and just went to sleep the last twelve days of her life. I was happy that she did not suffer. In addition, I lost a close car friend early in May and then we lost his father last week. I'm not complaining about the events the past six weeks. Sometimes one's personal hobby interest has to take a back seat to the needs of one's personal lives.
So we are off to a late start this year. I have always wanted to attend the monthly car show in Morris, Il., but one thing or another always stops me from attending. So this year, I have listed the Morris Car show as a group event. The date of the show is August 11th and the show attracts over 600 cars covering over eight blocks. Member Ray Raguse, who lives in Morris, has agreed to help me with this event. The other major event planned for this year is to the attend the 2007 SVT SCMC in South Haven, MI on September 15th-16th. There will be a car show and a track event. This is the first track event I ever participated in and got hooked. Learn to drive your Cobra the way it was meant to be driven! You learn the course with instructors in your own Cobra. See the club Web site for more details. Below is a list of the events planned for the rest of the summer. As always, your suggestions and help are appreciated.

SCMC IL Events for 2007

July 31st Meet a Augustino's on North Ave east of Rt. 59 in West Chicago. This is a cruise night and there is no fee. The food is excellent and there are great deserts. This is Ford night.

August 11th Car show in Morris, IL. Entry fee is $10 if you want to show your vehicle. Plan on meeting for dinner or just walking around as a group. No need to show you Cobra if you do not want to. Members from the Chicago area can meet some where and cruise down as a group.

Sept 15-16th SCMC on Track at Gingerman Race Track in South Haven, MI. The car show is on Saturday. Members in Chicago could drive in together and stay for dinner on Saturday night. See the SCMC website and last newsletter for details.

Sept 21st. Car show at downtown Wheaton, IL. This Mustang / Cobra night. Dinner or ice cream?

Well, we will be down at Chicagoland the weekend. Last I made it to Victor Ford since it did not conflict with the Chicagoland Nascar weekend. Great show. How have you been? I hoping to see you and Tim at the Packet Webb show in May or the 4th of July show at Woodridge last week.
